Today we’d like to introduce you to Isabella Castorino.
Hi Isabella, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I was born with a giant congenital pigmented nevus, otherwise known as a birthmark. This covers the majority of my torso and will stay with me my whole life. I am 21 years old and I study Environmental Policy at Middle Tennessee State University.
I began posting on TikTok in October of 2020 during lockdown and gained a following. After receiving many suggestions on modeling, I applied and was signed to Tribe Talent Management in February of 2021. I have since been able to be a part of music videos, clothing campaigns, and a fashion show!
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Growing up, not everything was easy. While academics have always come naturally to me, friendships haven’t. My family moved around every few years, so I was constantly the new kid. While that comes with its own challenges, being a girl with a stark difference wanting desperately to fit in was my biggest obstacle.
As I got older, I began to see the beauty in my uniqueness and learned to appreciate my differences. I have been fortunate enough to have a really great support team behind me, cheering me on as I pursue my dream.
Everything always has a way of working in my favor eventually, so I just always gave it time and let my successes find me.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I am a curve model. I set myself apart from other models because not only am I plus size, I also have a birthmark that covers my torso.
My goal is to exude confidence and be an example for other people like me. I want all people to feel comfortable and confident in their skin. Regardless of size, ability, race, or age, all people deserve to love themselves.
How do you define success?
I define success as contentment. I want to be able to look back at my achievements and failures and be proud of all of them for making me who I am.
