Conversations with Izabel Gray

Today, we’d like to introduce you to Izabel Gray.

Izabel Gray

Hi Izabel, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I have been in the entertainment industry since before I can remember! My mom put me in modeling when I was 8 months old and it never stopped! Dance and gymnastics by 18 months, acting and musical theatre by the age of 4, and singing solos in the church choir at 5 years old. I always had a need to entertain.

My parents would have guests over and when they disappeared they knew to follow the sound of my voice because I would be putting on full productions complete with costume changes! My family jokes that I could sing before I could talk. At age 3 they would take me to restaurants and I would go table to table singing for strangers.

I come from a very artistic family my dad is a musician and my mom is a dancer so I guess you could say it’s in my blood! I pursued all aspects of performance through college where I received a BFA from the Dobbins Conservatory of Theatre and Dance. I graduated right into the pandemic and as soon as restrictions lifted I moved to Nashville in July of 2021.

I now spend most of my time either on stage, in writing sessions, or in the studio recording new songs. Music has become my main focus but that does not mean I have abandoned my other passions! I still model, act, and dance my way through live shows! When I’m not on stage performing I have picked up another passion training dogs and service dogs to give back to my community!

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Being in the public eye is never an easy road. I have had doors not only closed but slammed in my face along the way, but I never give up! Someone once told me that NO just stands for Next Opportunity and although it stings to be rejected I do my best to keep that as my focus. I think the biggest struggle was growing up and learning to block out everyone else’s opinions.

As a model, you are judged on your body and they will literally measure you in front of everyone and decide based on that whether you get a job or not. As a teenager that can be extremely difficult. But I lean on God and my family and find my value in myself rather than someone else’s opinion.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am a singer/songwriter, model, actor, and dancer. My goal is to heal people’s hearts with my creativity and make them feel seen and heard.

Do you have any advice for those just starting?
My biggest advice is to not let anyone bring you down! If you’re passionate about something give your best every single day and just keep showing up!
