Today we’d like to introduce you to Jeanne Carr.
Hi Jeanne, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I started in a family act when I was 2 as the 6th child of 6 kids called The Carr Family Singers. I got my Actors Equity card at the youngest age of 5 as Gretl von Trapp in The Broadway National Tour of The Sound of Music.
I kept acting, singing and dancing all the way to LA in the 80’s and worked here in Hollywood in many shows and commercials for about 11 years.
After a 20 year hiatus; raising two awesome people who fled the nest successfully, I realized I could return to Hollywood once again to chase my dreams!
I had to start all over!
So, I hit improv comedy, stand up comedy , acting showcases, and some theatre, until I started getting roles again!
Now I’m super excited to be a full time actress once again and I am grateful to be part of the Vertical Scene!
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
We all have struggles along the way in life and I’d rather focus on the one thing for which I am most grateful and that is my faith.
Nothing seems imposible with God.
All Glory goes to God and Jesus is my savior..
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I love what I’m doing and I try to empathize with the charactor I’m potraying in each role.
Comedy is my passion but I love all acting opportunities!
I think my work ethic is something that may set me apart in that I love to show up to set early, off book and ready to go.
Before we let you go, we’ve got to ask if you have any advice for those who are just starting out?
Preparation is everything, then after you are ready submit yourself to all you can and get work!
Don’t wait for someone else to submit you. You are your best chance of getting the job. Do it. Never give up.
