Conversations with Jennifer Curnutt

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jennifer Curnutt

Hi Jennifer, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My entire life, I’ve been surrounded by photographers, artists, and writers starting with my maternal grandfather who was an adventurer in every sense of the word. He ran daring whitewater rapids on WWI pontoon boots charting waters that all others before him either gave up on or perished, explored ancient Mayan ruins, and scuba dove shipwrecks. He was also a painter, photographer, writer, inventor, and story-teller extraordinaire.

Creativity flowed from there to my mother and her generation of artists and musicians, to my cousins, siblings, and son. I have been so fortunate in my life in the sense that art, adventure, and travel have always surrounded me and left such an impact.

After working over 25 years in litigation, I was getting tired of the grind and long hours. I decided to get back to those roots as a way to relieve the stress. I started an IG page to share my photography and stories and is it grew, I created a travel blog and found a new joy in life – blogging, freelance writing and taking photos.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Juggling a full time job in litigation with a travel business is never easy. There just never seems to be enough hours in the day. It’s been a difficult journey creating content, working with brands in the tourism industry, writing, managing multiple social media accounts and channels. Sometimes, I feel like I will never get ahead of the workload but somehow I have managed and I love it.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I am a freelance writer, content creator, and travel blogger who also manages social media accounts for companies in the travel industry. I specialize in finding and featuring unique destinations that combine adventure with luxury. I then write about those adventures and create itineraries that my audience can follow allowing them to explore the same places I’ve been without the hassle of hours of planning.

What’s unique about me personally is my ability to tell a story coupled with my photography of the places I visit. I not only provide information about destinations and things I’ve done, I bring my stories to life recounting the details of my experiences through words and images in a way that captivates my readers as if they are right there with me.

Any advice for finding a mentor or networking in general?
Every connection with every single person you meet along your journey is important from that one person following you on Instagram living vicariously through you to the top marketing directors of the big tourism boards you hope to do business with. Each one is equally important and you never know where each relationship might lead.

Most of my success comes from social media. Social media is 100% about human connection for me and building relationships. This means not only providing others with information and content for their enjoyment, but showing and having an interest in their lives and what they are doing. You never know which encounters in life will lead you to where you want to be and every relationship I have built on my journey to where I am right now has been a blessing and of value to me. I have made incredible friendships along the way.
