Today we’d like to introduce you to Jessica Davis.
Hi Jessica, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I earned my bachelor’s degree in photography from Brooks Institute of Photography and spent more than 20 years as a portrait photographer while also photographing wildlife around the world. I’ve been traveling to Africa for over 15 years, and today I host small, thoughtfully designed safaris that combine incredible wildlife, photography, conservation, and authentic cultural experiences.
At home in Nashville, I’m also an equestrian photographer, creating fine art portraits of horses, longhorns, and the people who love them. I also offer a collection of fine art wildlife prints through my website, including images from Africa and the iconic semi-wild horses of the Camargue in southern France.
More than taking beautiful photos, I love helping people slow down and connect with nature. Whether it’s a once-in-a-lifetime safari or capturing the bond between people and their horses, my goal is to create meaningful experiences and images that tell a story.
Ultimately, I help people preserve what matters most, whether that’s experiencing the wildlife of Africa, celebrating the relationship they share with a beloved horse, or bringing the beauty of the natural world into their home through fine art.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. Like many creatives, one of my biggest challenges has been finding my own voice. It’s easy to compare yourself to others or become so focused on getting everything perfect that you never begin.
Ironically, the wilderness has taught me some of my greatest lessons. On safari, you can’t force a moment, you have to be patient, adapt, and trust the process. Building a business has been much the same. I’ve learned that growth comes from taking chances, trying new things, and being willing to fail. Some of my biggest opportunities have come from ideas that didn’t work the first time.
I always remind myself to just start. You can adjust your course as you go, but you can’t grow if you’re standing still. Failure isn’t the opposite of success, it’s often the path that leads you there.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am a wildlife photographer and photographic guide specializing in African safaris. I host small, thoughtfully designed safaris that combine incredible wildlife, photography, conservation, and authentic cultural experiences.
At home in Nashville, I’m also an equestrian photographer, creating fine art portraits of horses, longhorns, and the people who love them. I also offer a collection of fine art wildlife prints through my website, featuring images I’ve captured around the world, including the iconic semi-wild horses of the Camargue in southern France. It’s safe to say I love photographing animals.
Through trusted local partnerships and years spent exploring Africa, I create personalized adventures that leave guests with unforgettable memories and photographs they’ll treasure for a lifetime.
What has been the most important lesson you’ve learned along your journey?
I’ve learned that the best moments can’t be rushed. Whether I’m photographing wildlife, traveling, or building a business, the most meaningful experiences happen when you slow down, stay curious, and let things unfold naturally. That lesson has shaped not only how I photograph, but also how I lead safaris and approach life.
That’s what I love most about Africa. I’m never more present than when I’m away from technology and fully immersed in nature. Some of the most unforgettable moments happen when you simply pause, look around, and appreciate what an incredible world we live in.
