Today we’d like to introduce you to Joey Vinegar.
Hi Joey, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
My name is Joey Vinegar. I am a singer-songwriter, originally from Canada. I’ve been performing and writing music for 25 years. I studied classical guitar and piano in College and University. I love Bluegrass and country music as well as rock and soul music. I have recorded several songs and EP’s. My music is a mixture of Americana and Canadian rock, which I feel makes me very unique.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It has been a long, tough road. Through many long tours and band fallouts. Starting bands and projects that haven’t been able to get past the initial creation or first few months has been a common theme in my music career. I have been focusing more on my solo career and aspirations. Writing and releasing music that I have written, sang and produced has been my latest path, although I do love to collaborate with other musicians and songwriters. I feel my solo project is where I should focus my energy.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I am known for my upbeat and energetic performance. I love to engage with the audience; it is important to me that people are clapping or singing along to my music. I am also a music teacher, I teach guitar, piano, mandolin, ukulele, banjo and some percussion. I am proud of my latest single. I recorded and produced it myself. I also performed all the instruments. I feel my energy and upbeat acoustic music sets me apart
Is there a quality that you most attribute to your success?
I feel that if an audience or listener is singing a lyric or clapping or tapping their foot to my music, I have done my job. Those are the most important characteristics too my success. I feel that my thought-provoking lyrics and interesting harmonic structures are also great qualities that my music contains.
