Conversations with Jordan Moed

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jordan Moed

Hi Jordan, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
The idea of having my own studio was a dream of mine ever since I was a kid. The idea that I could have the ability to create anything my mind heard just seemed like the ultimate form of freedom, and to this day believe that. This dream began early, but wouldn’t materialize til I was well into my 20’s. After I graduated from Full Sail University in 2017, I would re-locate to Nashville and once I established my footing, I opened Crashline Studios in a suite in North Nashville. I would only be at the suite for about 9 months or so before the reality of a modern day music producer came in, and alongside Covid incoming I was forced to move my operations to my home and since then have been operating out of there since. In 2021, I welcomed my partner and fellow Full Sail alumni Dan Morin to the operation and now Crashline Studios is fully operational machine.

Crashline Studios projects have been featured on NHL Hockey, MLB Baseball, Food Network, TNT, TBS and ESPN. Previous podcast clients include series’s like Rice TV, Consent Of The Governed & Monte Mader’s, Highway To Hell. We have also done commercial music for clients like Botero Carts, Gohelp & the Philadelphia Crypto Jawn Expo.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It has been the farthest from smooth. Crashline Studios has been a constant uphill battle in trying to stay relevant and feasible in a world that has become super inflated with musicians, producers and engineers as of late. Our goal has always been to evolve with the times and try to offer the best rates we can in order to match what the industry is currently asking for. Our main ventures currently our in the Sync licensing and media world which includes composing for ads, tiktok audio editing, podcast editing, production library albums, and were hoping this year we can finally break into the film world.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
At the end of the day, myself alongside Dan are musicians and creatives at heart. So no matter how deep we dive, we always try to stay creative with solutions and find ways to make the impossible, possible. We had a project with an artist last year that came in and only had a phone recording of vocals that had no beat nor rhythm to them and we were tasked with building an entire song around it. Dan and I had to get super creative while really paying attention to what the artist was hoping to achieve. We not only got it done by the deadline, we had time to spare and we are super proud of that one.

Another project we are super proud of is we got hired to compose the intro for the True Crime podcast, Highway To Hell. Monte Mader is a class act and I had a blast being able to create and compose scores from scratch and was just super happy to hear them every week as new episode would get released.

I think what sets us apart from the others is are ability to meet deadlines and never have to sacrifice quality. Dan and I believe what separates us is the mindset and work ethic that it takes to stand out in today’s Music & Audio industry and just continue to learn, adapt and get better at our craft. For almost 5 years now, we have just focused on growth in ourselves and in the business and take steps everyday to make this dream a reality for both of us.

Is there any advice you’d like to share with our readers who might just be starting out?
You have to really want this in order to succeed. The amount of family events, parties, vacations I had to sit out on because we had deadlines to meet and work to get done. If you can accept that you may go years without having alot of time for these things, you will go far as long as you continually work on your craft and evolve with it.

The one thing I wish I knew starting out and this is gonna sound ironically hypocritical after my last comment is learning how to balance the work/life grind. It’s something that’s taken me years to really figure out. While the grind is never stopping and you always have to be moving forward, its important to make time for the other important parts of your life. Music may be your world, but there is more to your world than just music and that’s something I take super serious.
