Today we’d like to introduce you to Keegan Corwell and Jay Clinger.
Alright, thank you for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, how did you get started?
Jay began playing guitar in college out of Edinboro, Pennsylvania. Keegan began singing in local bars right after college. At the start of 2022, a mutual friend introduced Keegan and Jay, and they began to play at friends’ homes and bonfires. They decided to create a country music group named the Highway Boys. The two began to grow a following through social media and started playing at local bars and venues. Soon after, the two were invited to open Big Jim’s Froggy Fest, where the Highway Boys got to open for Conner Smith and Hailey Whitters soon after they were able to cut their first 6 song EP, “Tailgate Tales,” that released this November. The Highway Boys look forward to starting their first independent Tour spanning the East Coast this winter.
We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Being so new in the industry has been a struggle. Being an independent artist also adds it’s own set of difficulties. Still, everything is a learning process, so finding out what does and does not work in subjects like music, marketing, management, and so on has been the most difficult. But also the most rewarding, as it’s helping us grow and learn and enjoy the entire process.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar, what can you tell them about what you do?
We are country music artists. We are most proud of how we stay true to what we believe in. What sets us apart from others is we thrive on being perfectly imperfect and allowing others to interpret our music for themselves. We love being raw and uncut and pride ourselves on making others feel the emotion in every note we play.
Risk-taking is a topic that people have widely differing views on – we’d love to hear your thoughts.
We consider ourselves risk-takers. We aim to make it in this industry in any way we can. We’ve invested countless hours into becoming the best we can be for ourselves and our fans. We’ve put our professional careers on hold to chase this dream. We have a very “it’s all or nothing” attitude when finding our spot in country music.
