Conversations with Kennedy Taylor

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kennedy Taylor.

Hi Kennedy, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Hi my name is Kennedy Taylor. I’m a 19 year old singer-songwriter new to town here in Nashville, TN. I’m originally from Orange County, California and I’ve been in the area for a little under six months.  I started at 11 with self-driven motivation to street perform at the Newport Beach pier in Southern California for the next nine years. I kept performing live, gained more notoriety, and started doing concerts during the pandemic from my front yard for my neighbors and first responders. My front yard concerts got featured on ABC news, and as soon as I graduated, I moved out to Nashville from SoCal to help me further my career and gain more experience. My parents believed in me, and we all moved out to Nashville to help me make it big, so I am now actively taking as many opportunities as possible. Whether that be writer’s rounds, performing at the Ryman, and so much more.

Can you talk to us about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
So far, there’s been many obstacles chasing my dreams of being a singer/songwriter in Nashville. Relocating across five states hasn’t necessarily been easy to complete culture change, starting over, gaining a community, finding jobs to settle in, and finding the best venues to perform at with other writers in town to meet. Knowing this won’t be easy, it’s been challenging at times to start gaining momentum in this town. But when it all happens is when all this hard work now will be worth twice as much in the future.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar, what can you tell them about what you do?
I’m a singer/songwriter, new amongst the Nashville scene , driven in blues and soul. Currently, I’m playing shows as much as I can solo or full band. Recently my band and I played right outside the Ryman, one of my most memorable shows.

I’m starting to build momentum by releasing more music on every platform. My third song High Road Hit all platforms on November 21st with another song titled Burn to follow with its release day being December 13th. Keep an eye out for Kennedy Taylor and Company on the town with more performances live Day-to-day follows with more songwriting, songs, and shows to play.
