Today we’d like to introduce you to Krystal Ribble. Them and their team share their story with us below:
Krystal is an author who started out writing Bible Studies for a college ministry she was leading on the campus of Belmont University. She self-published her first book, The Church’s Orphans. After this, she signed on with Dexterity Books in Nashville, TN to write an Advent devotional for them titled Dwell: Celebrating the Arrival of Advent at Home. Following this, Dexterity published their first self-titled work of Krystal’s titled Love Me in the Waiting: Trusting God’s Purpose When You’re Longing for What’s Next which released in April of 2021. Love me is a book about the waiting seasons in our lives and how we can navigate them better than we ever have. There is a lot the Lord is doing in our waiting seasons if we choose to see it that way.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
While the journey to become an author has not been an easy one, the road has twisted in a way that I am appreciative of. I have dreamed of being an author since I was a little girl, however, I was always so afraid to just write my first book and put it out in the world. But, once I did, each thing I have written has led to the next project being a little bigger. My step of faith has paid off in the reaping of my dreams coming true.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am an author who primarily writes Non-fiction Christian works. Most of what I write is putting a modern day understanding to the stories we have read in the Bible all of our lives. I love to study God’s word and mine the application He has for us still today. I am different from other people mainly because my experiences in life spin my outlook on these stories. I often write from the perspective of what I call a “recovering PK” which means I grew up in a Pastor’s home and so my perspective is a bit skewed because of this. I also write from my experiences as an adoptive mama who lost a few children through the adoption process before I brought my son home and then had more biological children following him.
We’re always looking for the lessons that can be learned in any situation, including tragic ones like the Covid-19 crisis. Are there any lessons you’ve learned that you can share?
The main take away for me has been that the simple things I have in my home and the small population of people I am surrounded by every single day are enough. When the world closed down, I only needed the people and things I held dear to me each day. They helped me navigate any uncertainty I had and at the end of the day, they are all I wanted anyway. Choose your people wisely and keep them close. Love one another well.
