Today we’d like to introduce you to Loaded Los.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I have always loved music and the storytelling part of it. I always knew I could write songs but I believe timing and self-doubt stopped me. I grew up watching my stepdad fill tablets with lyrics (stacks!)and hundreds of CDs.
Everyone would come to our house because he also made beats, and played multiple instruments he had his homemade studio in the back room (this is the early 2000’s so having a studio was a big thing for artists looking to record). Watching how passionate he was about music I think naturally inspired me. Honestly, although I loved songwriting I never imagined myself being “a rapper” because of a lot of reasons. (My sexual preference being a big one) but I feel like this has always been my destiny I just didn’t know it.
At that time it was just hard to imagine an openly gay rapper and I refused to hide who I was. I have always been extremely vocal about how I feel and songwriting allows me to vent and tell the story of so many people just like me.
I released my first single in November 2021 the next week I had an interview with WVOL Nashville (the same station where Oprah started) I released my second single in February 2022 and it immediately went viral on social media resulting in me gaining over 4 million views on TikTok and over 45k followers. The support I received of course motivated me to continue to push music. Since then I have performed for LGBT pride and released my first EP: “TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN” followed by my first music video.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It could definitely be smoother. Me being a “controversial or in-your-face” LGBT rapper I don’t expect it to be easy but I demand the same respect that I give out.
A lot of times I feel like producers, photographers, etc. may not put as much effort into my projects as they would for a “straight” artist or sometimes I won’t even receive a response. Instead of being discouraged this actually fuels me because it is the exact reason that I became an artist TO MAKE SURE OUR VOICES ARE HEARD. Some have even replied to old messages and are now asking to work with me.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I’m definitely different than any artist before me coming from Nashville or probably anywhere from my unique sound and controversial lyrics I’m one of a kind and I’m changing the wave of music as we know it for generations to come.
I’m an advocate for being and believing in yourself which pushed me to form the idea of a nonprofit I’m hoping to begin “WHO ELSE BUT YOU” where I and other inspiring community role models teach young children to undoubtedly believe in themselves and those idols that they see can be them.
What are your plans for the future?
In the future, you should expect more visuals. Videos allow my fans a great chance to connect with me more and see my personality come to life. It also shows a different look/side inside the world of our lifestyle.
People carry these certain perceptions of our community but we are all different and cannot be put in a box. I plan to make way for LGBT rap to be included when mentioning music everywhere.
