Today we’d like to introduce you to Mak Marie.
Hi Mak, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Started singing young with my grandfather, then in church. Started writing songs and playing acoustic shows, put a band together and play as much as we can, including some pretty well known music festivals.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Biggest struggle has been getting into new venues. Emails, cold calls, multiple appearances don’t seem to make much difference. You have to know someone it seems. Also gaining social media and Spotify followers. Consistent playing and posting.

Went to school to be a dental hygienist, but music is my first passion. My doctors and patients have all been super supportive along the way. I’m most proud of my songs. I’ve always been a jokester and don’t write a lot of slow sad songs, I love putting smiles on peoples faces. My songs don’t always fit into the “Nashville” style of writing, and that makes me different.
Can you talk to us about how you think about risk?
I’d say I’m a risk taker – I have horses, that’s a risk in several different ways…risking injury, always being broke, never finding a husband cause I have too much baggage lol
