Conversations with Mesifus

Today we’d like to introduce you to Mesifus

Hi Mesifus, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Sami: Hello we are Mesifus! Mesifus formed back in August 2023 with Logan Kehle (the drummer) and a former guitarist named Sevan that was started in Logans dorm room on Belmont University. In the very beginning, the two played riffs together inspired from Modern Progressive Metal and Metalcore. Eventually they invited guitarists Elijah Okkesson and Micah Parkinson as well as a former bassist Courtney a month later, in September, and together they came up with the former which was Empty Acceptance. The following month, they auditioned Sami Crompton as their lead vocalist in October 2023. In the same month the original bassist Courtney left the band to pursue other projects, and they invited Jake Gilbert to play bass after Micah discovered him in a Guitar Center. From here we went on to write and release our first single “Freedom of the Unknown” which released on February 2nd, 2024, which then started the band’s trajectory to writing our debut EP. In the same month Sevan left the band due to time management and to pursue other avenues in music. The band carried on writing more music before playing their first show at The Cobra on July 31st, 2024. From there they have played multiple shows throughout the Nashville scene and have played a festival in Tallahassee Florida. Our debut EP, Lost and Empty, released on January 24th, 2025, and since then we’ve been working on writing for future projects and gigging at more venues around the Nashville scene.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Logan: Mesifus’ biggest challenge at first was dealing with lineup changes from band members leaving and then adapting to what they had and trying to bring more people on board. Another one of our biggest challenges was making our music sound professional and industry-standard acceptable, having to go through multiple producers and even trying to self -produce and mix and one point. Mesifus’ third biggest challenge was trying to balance out our lives with school and work in the mix as well as trying to make the band work and able to practice.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
Sami: We are a Progressive Metalcore band from Nashville focused on making our music sound authentic and something that is uniquely us with still keeping that Metalcore sound and flair.

So maybe we end on discussing what matters most to you and why?
Jake: What matters to Mesifus is honoring our roots in Modern Progressive Metal and Metalcore while still keep the authenticity of each members individual influences. We want to keep our music with the same flair and derivative of Prog/Metalcore but still making something unique that can only be associated with Mesifus.
