Today we’d like to introduce you to Morgan Barber.
Hi Morgan, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I graduated beauty school right before covid hit and had absolutely no idea what I would be doing. I got a job and was immediately let go because of the pandemic and was clueless and lost. I ended up getting a job at a medispa and immediately felt like it wasn’t for me. I stayed there for about 9 months and wanted to escape but felt like I didn’t have the means to and no one else was hiring during this time. I decided to take a leap of faith and open up my own place with a friend from beauty school. We had no planning, no savings, I got a small loan from my nana, who i’m forever grateful for. Several months went by that I had very little clients but I told myself I would push through because being an esthetician was my dream and my calling. It set my soul on fire and I couldn’t leave the industry. I decided one day to start posting tiktok’s. I had no intention of turning into an influencer on top of all of it but I’m SO BLESSED! I now have 800k+ tiktok followers and up to 1 million across all platforms together. That’s helped me stay busy at the spa and keep a steady book for about 5 years now.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It’s been smooth after the first year. The first year I had a lot of trouble finding clients but social media changed that for me completely. I posted 3-4 times a day so I could find people and it worked after a few months.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I specialize in relaxing massage based facial treatments. There’s also definitely a modern ASMR vibe to my treatments. I am most proud of the connections i’ve made with my clients. I love the energy exchange we have when they come in and I love watching them leave their life at the door and come in to relax. I think my social media alone sets me apart. I think potential clients can see my love and care through the screen. People know who I am and what I do before they come in and that makes it easy for them to be comfortable with me.
I also have a podcast called “Spa Day” that perfectly showcases my love for the industry and encapsulates what me and my amazing clients yap about at their appointments! It’s a fun way to sit back and relax with my favorite people.
Last, I have started The Skincare With Morgan Academy and I have one online course out for baby esthetician’s. It shows my in detail facial routine, back treatment protocol and more! I plan on expanding my online courses soon.
What’s next?
My plans and ideas come to me day by day! I have a lot of fun and exciting things coming that I can’t share quite yet but growing my business and learning more about the esthetics industry is my ongoing goal. I love being apart of the beauty industry!
