Conversations with Nataly Martinez

Hi Nataly, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today.
I’d like to describe my entrepreneurial journey as something that happened on accident but on purpose. I’ve always dreamed of becoming a doctor someday and curing the world by serving others in the medical field but sometimes this journey we call life can change things up. I struggled a lot as a kid and young adult in school, I felt as if I never measured up if my grades weren’t the best or felt worthy enough if I didn’t graduate with honors or with a big title.

I worked diligently when it came to my academics and believed that the medical field was the missing piece that would complete me but I never felt so defeated when I landed my first job at a hospital and quickly realized that my heart wasn’t in medicine anymore, that becoming a doctor wasn’t going to solve my life issues nor make me worthy of being important. Growing up, I’ve always searched for purpose and meaning in the work that I do and sometimes I envisioned it as having a big job with a big title, etc. But I learned throughout my life that it doesn’t matter the title you have, big or small it doesn’t define you. It’s all about knowing how to use the gift that God has placed in you.

Sometimes our purpose won’t come in ways we imagined but the impact does! For many years, I mourned the idea of never becoming a doctor, but I realized that serving others isn’t only limited to doctors. With lots of hard work, tears, and self-doubt I had to go through many challenges to find myself and truly surrender to the idea of a “perfect career”. I don’t believe that any job title defines you, but it is the character that you build that determines how you make an impact in the world no matter what you do in this life.

Post undergrad I was working in a hospital as a nurse tech, freshly graduated with a bachelor’s in science pre-med I was ready to gain all the experience working in a hospital to then apply to Physician Assistants school. When I realized that the hospital environment wasn’t for me, I changed gears and went to go work in my father’s business. My father has a long record of serving the beauty industry in Nashville by opening many barbershops and now Beauty Academies, I decided to go work temporarily with him. I found myself falling in love with the beauty industry, more specifically Aesthetics! I began to grow within his company and expanded my knowledge of skincare.

I became so immersed and fascinated with the wide range of opportunities the Aesthetics world has to offer, it wasn’t until my father and I were invited to a conference by one of the Presidents of the brand Postquam Professional USA that was being held in Puerto Rico in 2022. At that conference, I was left speechless with how amazing and diverse this company is with its wide range of skincare products to the diverse group of professionals who are educators of this brand. The passion and purpose I felt during that experience led to the opportunity to become a partner with PostQuam Professional.

Sometimes the journey itself will reveal parts of you, you never imagined you even had, and it is in those moments that God reveals the doors of purpose and opportunities. Fast forward my father and I now own Postquam Professional Nashville which is one of the many stores located all around the U.S. We are very excited to be able to bring this European skincare line to all professionals and beauty academies in the state of Tennessee.

We are educators is our slogan and our goal is to provide a quality line of products and education for the professionals and their clients! We take part in continuous education seminars in both languages English and Spanish for all beauty professionals and students who are preparing to become licensed beauty professionals! We are Educators, Somos educadores, and we are PostQuam Professional Nashville here to serve, build, and educate all of Tennessee!

I appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am an aesthetician and business owner; I specialize in representing the brand PostQuam Professional Nashville and Evolve MedSPA located in Smyrna,TN.

I have to thank God first for giving me the strength and story to share with others who can relate to me. To my family especially to Elvin and Candy Mejia, my father and mother who have helped mold me into the woman I am becoming in business! I’d also like to thank Sergio and Arlet the founders of this brand, who believed in me embarking in this journey and welcoming me into their family business! I am most proud of the team that has helped me build our presence here in Nashville as well, without them we are not PostQuam Nashville!

Can you tell us more about what you were like growing up?
Growing up, I was very confident and fearless, I was never afraid of taking chances or speaking to anyone! I was a huge lover and vibrant! always looking to encourage or help someone in anyway.
