Conversations with Nicole Ahima

Today we’d like to introduce you to Nicole Ahima.

Hi Nicole, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I’m a Nashville-based salsa instructor, community leader, and co-owner of Dance Nashville, a hub for diverse adult dance programs. As the founder of Nashville Salsa Dancing, I’ve built one of the city’s most vibrant Latin dance communities—creating spaces where people connect through culture, rhythm, and movement. My teaching style blends technique, musicality, and self-expression, helping dancers find confidence and joy on and off the floor. Beyond instruction, I enjoy mentoring aspiring teachers, curating inclusive social events, and developing curriculum designed to make Latin dance accessible and empowering for all. I believe my work reflects a passion for cultural exchange, creative leadership, and the transformative power of dance to build belonging.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Honestly, I’m at this really interesting point in my leadership where I’m learning how to actually lead instead of trying to do everything myself. For a long time, I wore all the hats—organizing events, managing operations, teaching, keeping the community connected—you name it. It all came from love and wanting things done well, but if I’m honest, there was also this fear that no one else could uphold the same standards I had in my head.
Now I’m realizing that real leadership isn’t about doing it all—it’s about trusting others, delegating clearly, and creating space for people to bring their own strengths. My focus is shifting back to what really fuels me: pouring into the community experience and deepening my own dance education so I can keep growing creatively. It feels like I’m standing right between being the person who holds everything together and the one who shapes what comes next. Learning to let go while still leading with purpose—that’s my current growth edge.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
