Conversations with Nycorya Wilson

Today we’d like to introduce you to Nycorya Wilson.

Hi Nycorya, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I didn’t grow up thinking I would become an author, speaker, minister, or entrepreneur. Like many people, I was simply trying to survive life while figuring out who I was and what God had called me to do.

For years, I wore a smile while carrying the weight of brokenness, disappointment, and the pressure of trying to be everything for everybody else. I experienced divorce after many years of marriage, walked through seasons of grief and loss, battled moments that challenged my faith, and had to learn what it truly meant to heal instead of just existing.

Everything changed when I stopped asking, “Why did this happen to me?” and started asking, “God, what do You want to do through me?”

That question changed my life.

I committed myself to growing spiritually, emotionally, and professionally. I earned my bachelor’s, master’s, doctorate, and eventually my Ph.D. in Ministry—not for the titles, but because I wanted to be equipped to serve people well. Along the way, I became a minister, mental health coach, author, speaker, and business owner.

Today, I have the privilege of helping others discover their purpose, publish their stories, strengthen their faith, and realize that their past doesn’t have the final say. Through my books, coaching programs, speaking engagements, conferences like the Becoming HER Experience, and my businesses, my goal is always the same—to help people uncover the purpose beneath the pain.

One of the greatest lessons I’ve learned is that healing isn’t about pretending you’ve never been hurt. It’s about allowing God to use every chapter of your life for His glory. Looking back, I can honestly say that every setback, every tear, every closed door, and every difficult season prepared me for where I am today.

I’m still becoming. I’m still growing. But now I walk with confidence because I know my purpose isn’t based on my past—it’s based on God’s plan for my life. If my story encourages even one person to keep going, then every chapter has been worth it.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Not at all. My journey has been anything but smooth.

I’ve faced seasons of heartbreak, divorce after many years of marriage, financial challenges, loss, disappointment, and moments when I questioned whether I was enough. There were times I poured into everyone else while neglecting myself. I know what it feels like to smile in public while carrying pain in private.

Building businesses, writing books, and creating platforms hasn’t come without obstacles either. I’ve had to overcome fear, self-doubt, limited resources, and the challenge of building something from the ground up while people only saw the finished product—not the long nights, sacrifices, or tears behind it.

One of my biggest struggles was learning that healing isn’t automatic—it requires intentional work. I had to let go of the need to prove myself, forgive what hurt me, and trust God’s timing instead of my own.

Looking back, I don’t regret the difficult seasons because they shaped the woman I am today. They taught me resilience, strengthened my faith, and gave me a heart for people who are trying to find hope in the middle of their own struggles. Today, I don’t just teach healing and purpose—I live it. That’s what allows me to serve others with authenticity and compassion.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I help people uncover their purpose, own their story, and build a legacy that will outlive them.

As a speaker, author, leadership and purpose coach, minister, and publisher, my work sits at the intersection of faith, healing, and transformation. I specialize in helping women move beyond survival into purpose—whether that’s through coaching, writing their first book, leadership development, or creating spaces where they can heal and grow.

I’m also the founder of experiences and publishing opportunities that empower everyday people to become published authors and share the stories they once believed they had to keep hidden. My passion is showing people that what they’ve survived can become the very thing that changes someone else’s life.

One of the things I’m most proud of is helping others discover their voice and giving them the confidence to walk boldly in their calling. Seeing someone go from feeling overlooked or uncertain to becoming a confident leader or published author is incredibly rewarding.

What sets me apart is that I don’t just teach purpose—I have lived it. My own journey through pain, loss, divorce, healing, and restoration has shaped the way I lead. I combine practical strategy with biblical principles, creating an approach that is both authentic and transformational. I believe success isn’t just about achievement; it’s about becoming who God created you to be and helping others do the same.

At the end of the day, my mission is simple: to help people remove the layers, embrace who they are, and leave a legacy that impacts generations.

Where we are in life is often partly because of others. Who/what else deserves credit for how your story turned out?
No one builds something meaningful alone, and I certainly didn’t.

First and foremost, I give all glory to God. My faith has been the foundation of everything I’ve accomplished. There have been seasons when I didn’t have all the answers, but I trusted God’s direction, and He has continually opened doors I never could have opened on my own.

I’m incredibly grateful for my church family at Grace United Church. The leadership, encouragement, and opportunities to serve have helped me grow as both a minister and a leader. Having people who believed in me before I fully believed in myself made a tremendous difference.

My family has also been a constant source of strength. They’ve celebrated the victories, prayed through the difficult seasons, and reminded me to keep going when life became challenging.

I’m thankful for the women and authors I’ve had the privilege of coaching and serving. While many see me as their mentor, they’ve inspired me just as much. Watching them find their voice, heal from their past, and step boldly into purpose continues to fuel my passion and reminds me why I do this work.

Finally, I’m grateful for every reader, client, event attendee, and supporter who has trusted me with their journey. Every book purchased, every message shared, every invitation to speak, and every life touched has helped build not just my business, but a mission that is much bigger than me.

If my story has taught me anything, it’s that success is never a solo journey. It’s built on faith, community, and people who are willing to believe in you while you’re still becoming.
