Today we’d like to introduce you to Porsche Pope.
Hi Porsche, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I am Porsche Pope of Polished Pope Designs. I am a wife and mother to two beautiful children. In 2016, I started a fashion blog to showcase my love for design and fashion. Initially, I thought that this would be more of a fun outlet of expression, or maybe even a cool hobby. With my love for bargain shopping and exceptional people skills, it was a no-brainer to not only share my talents on my website but take it a step further! Every first Saturday for years I would promote my ‘Retail Therapy’ event hosted at Goodwill to friends and family through social media channels. We would Meet-Up for hours to play dress-up month after month. Women and Children from all over Nashville donate a small token to join me on my shop excursions to help them put together budget-friendly looks. My love for Thrift Stores shopping began at the age of seven with my fashionista of a grandmother. She would allow us to freely express ourselves and pick out whatever we wanted.
After several events, I realized that my talents were no longer a cool hobby but truly a gift that I wanted to share with whoever would let me! I started doing Closet Audits and Personal Shopping for a variety of clients of different backgrounds, careers and lifestyles. For some of my clients, I could see how therapeutic it was to simply laugh and play dress up as little girls. In these spaces that I would create, women would share some of their most personal insecurities and stories with me. I would always listen with encouragement and uplift them through color, patterns and print. Something like Color Therapy, without even knowing much about it: I volunteered with the Marketing Department at Goodwill of Middle TN to help with personalized quarterly shopping events. I even facilitated a few Back to School Giveaways for a group of Teachers and Students, where I provided Personal One-On-One Shopping Experiences. In November 2017, Goodwill Industries of Middle Tennessee named me as their Brand Ambassador Of The Year.
With years of Customer Service, Retail & Merchandising and Marketing Experience, I decided to take my business further. I have always been mesmerized with fashion on award shows, tv shows and music videos and finally, I had an opportunity to bring all these experiences, gifts and talents together in one place. In the month of May 2021, I styled my first celebrity for an amazing music video. What an experience! I had to opportunity to work with one of the best teams in the industry and probably one of the best clients that I will ever have. This opportunity showed me that I could literally do anything no matter how big because I am truly walking in my light. Genuinely pouring into others by sharing my gifts and creating value for anyone that crossed my path. It is such a great place to be and I look forward to what the future holds for me within this space.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
There have been obstacles and challenges on this journey. Nothing too hard to overcome. With time management, self-educating, mistakes, planning and lots of work, it has all been worth it.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
Honestly, I love to create so I wear many hats and styling is just one of them! At this moment in my career, I am focusing on Wardrobe Styling. Those services can go in several different directions. I can provide Personal Styling Services such as Closet Audit, Personal Shopping, Event & Travel Styling, Makeovers and Closet Organization. With my most recent experiences of styling two separate Music Video Shoots for two Celebrity clients, the sky’s the limit. What sets me apart from others is that I am an open-minded, insightful, down-to-earth individual and super frugal!
What does success mean to you?
Success to me is taking an idea, making an extremely detailed plan, creating and executing those plans to their fullest extent of completion for the betterment of self and anyone involved.
