Today we’d like to introduce you to Precious Book Gal.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
As of January 2024, I was a mom of three, running a successful organization, and reading romance books — something I had been doing consistently since graduating with my Master’s Degree in May 2023.
In January 2024, I also joined an online book community — and that’s when Precious Book Gal was born.
I opened my first bookish social media account in April 2024, starting to post after witnessing some of the toxic behavior happening on “BookTok.” I decided to “be the change you wish to see in the world.” I honestly had no idea if anyone would care what someone my age had to say about books… or life.
As I started connecting with some of the indie authors I loved, I realized I wanted to help promote both them and the voice actors who brought some of my favorite stories to life. It turns out — when you’re comfortable making conversation in the “real world,” it comes just as naturally online.
I found friendships I never thought possible, discovered a passion for advocating for the authors and narrators I love, and tapped into a whole new kind of passion — different from the love I have for my family and my career.
I learned how to make videos, create content, and simply ask the questions I genuinely wanted to know the answers to.
Fast forward to March 2025:
I brought over 30 friends from my online book world to Nashville for a weekend retreat and helped organize a book signing event with my author friends.
I also interviewed some of the most popular voice actors in the romance industry and hosted live events on my own platforms, as well as on an audio production company’s platform.
I officially launched PreciousBookGal, LLC and created my website: www.preciousbookgal.com.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
I’m lucky I found some really great people who offered advice on the complicated programs and social platforms, shared words of wisdom, and supported me no matter what. I also learned to speak up and use my voice.
I’ve never had trouble speaking up in person, but for some reason, doing it online was intimidating — even for an old gal like me. Still, I was seeing some really toxic issues and felt like someone needed to say, “Stop and think before you judge others.”
What surprised me the most was how the people who were the loudest with negativity often grew quiet when a positive voice spoke out.
I also discovered there are truly kind, open people in the book world — and I decided to focus on them.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I post content every day on social media — that’s my goal: once a day.
I usually post about my life, often centered around books: what I’m reading, the ratings I give, and funny anecdotes connected to books. Anything to help give more exposure to authors.
Sometimes I focus on my personal life, without giving too much detail. I often share how I manage it all — balancing a busy career, raising a family, and running PreciousBookGal.
A running joke is that my kids still don’t know about my “Precious Book Gal” persona, and I’m constantly one step away from getting caught!
I also talk about my struggles as a wife, mother, and businesswoman — letting people celebrate my successes, learn from my mistakes, and “live out loud” as much as I can.
I hope my content offers people a chance to think, to realize they aren’t alone, and — most importantly — to laugh.
Humor is the best medicine, and when someone tells me that something I posted brightened their day?
My day is made.
I’m also working on developing my interview skills for the Lives I host — both on my own platforms and on business platforms.
I’ve watched plenty of book influencer interviews and thought, “If I ever had the opportunity, I would focus on real conversations.”
When I interview, I focus on how the guest got into the industry, what they love about it, advice they have for others, and I always end with one of my favorite questions:
“If you could change one thing about the book world, what would it be?”
I love hearing their answers.
As an event planner for most of my life, I’m also exploring more ways to help host and organize book events.
I helped put together a small event this past March in Nashville and absolutely loved helping authors gain more exposure and fans for their work.
Out of everything I’ve accomplished over the past year, my biggest achievement is simple:
I tried.
I tried something scary and new — especially at my age.
I got outside my comfort zone and gave it my all.
I’ve failed. I’ve embarrassed myself more than once.
But I’m proud that I tried.
We’d love to hear about any fond memories you have from when you were growing up?
Like many, I have mixed emotions about my childhood.
I didn’t have it as hard as some, but it wasn’t exactly easy either.
But no matter what your childhood was like, everyone has a favorite memory — and for me, it was going to Wave Country in Nashville with my family.
We would pack a cooler, grab a picnic table, and my sister, my dad, and I would go play in the water and ride the waves.
It sticks out to me because it was one of the rare times we were all out somewhere together as a family — something that didn’t happen often.
My mom never got in the water with us — not once.
Because of that, I’ve made it a point that whenever I take my kids to the water — whether it’s a pool or even the ocean — I always get in and play with them.
Even though I’m always a little afraid my leg will be eaten off by JAWS, I still get in.
It all came full circle when my oldest took my youngest to Nashville Shores, another water park.
It brought those memories rushing back, and I was so happy knowing they were making memories of their own.
