Today we’d like to introduce you to Reina Mar.
Hi Reina, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I’m a Cuban American Latin Pop artist from Bergen County, New Jersey, and music has always been my way of connecting with people. I started by performing locally and sharing bilingual covers online, blending my love for both Latin music and American pop. Over time, my renditions began reaching wider audiences, especially my version of Juan Gabriel’s Amor Eterno, which resonated with millions of people.
Today, I’ve built a community of over 200,000 followers across social media and have had the opportunity to perform at venues and events including MetLife Stadium, The Copacabana, The Stone Pony, the NYC Puerto Rican Day Parade, and Harlem’s 116th Street Festival. One of my biggest milestones was headlining my own show at the Rico Rico Festival in 2025, performing for more than 12,000 people.
I’ve also had my music featured in the Hulu series The Girl from Plainville and will soon make my television debut as a guest judge on Telemundo’s Cocinando con Cantaso. Through it all, my goal has stayed the same: to create music that celebrates culture, inspires others, and brings people together.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It definitely has not been a smooth road. Coming from a working class family, financial struggles have always been a reality for me, and funding my career as an independent artist has been one of my biggest challenges. There were times when I questioned whether I was good enough and worried too much about what other people thought of me.
But through it all, I have been incredibly fortunate to have the love and support of my family, friends, and fans. They have reminded me to keep going, even during the toughest moments. Over the years, I have learned to believe in myself more and focus less on outside opinions. Those struggles have shaped me into the artist and person I am today, and they make every milestone feel that much more meaningful.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I am a Cuban American Latin Pop artist, singer songwriter, and content creator who specializes in bilingual music that bridges Latin and American cultures. I am best known for my soulful English and Spanish renditions of songs, including my viral performance of Juan Gabriel’s “Amor Eterno,” as well as my energetic live performances and original music.
What I am most proud of is the community I have built and the impact my music has had on people. Hearing from fans who tell me that a song helped them heal, reconnect with their culture, or feel understood is incredibly rewarding.
What sets me apart is my ability to connect with people through both language and emotion. As a bilingual artist, I love reimagining songs in a way that honors their roots while making them accessible to new audiences. Whether I’m performing an emotional ballad or an upbeat Latin pop song, my goal is always the same: to create music that celebrate culture, inspire others, and make people feel seen.
Do you have any advice for those looking to network or find a mentor?
I would say the biggest thing is to consistently show up and share your passion with the world. Building a social media presence around what you love can naturally attract the right people into your circle, including mentors, collaborators, and supporters.
Networking has also been incredibly important for me. Attending events, connecting with others in your industry, and being genuinely interested in other people’s work can open doors you never expected. Some of the best opportunities and relationships in my career have come from simply putting myself out there, staying authentic, and being open to learning from others.
