Conversations with Renetta Daniels

Today we’d like to introduce you to Renetta Daniels.

Hi Renetta, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I’ve always had a passion for helping others in need. Even as a child. During the beginning of the pandemic in 2020, I saw so many families and businesses suffering due to COVID-19. I was inspired to do more! I had such a strong desire to pour into my community during such an emotional & scary time. God spoke to me & told me to start a nonprofit organization. He would place so many ideas & visions in my heart to where I couldn’t sleep at night for hours and hours.

Although I didn’t know the first thing about starting a nonprofit or overseeing it on a day-to-day basis, I was excited and more motivated than ever. I did research to find a law firm that specialized in nonprofits and went from there. Renetta’s Blessing Hands of Wealth Inc. was founded on August 7, 2020. We specialize in providing temporary assistance to children, families, & schools in need. We are still considered new because we’ve only operated for two years. I’m extremely proud of the work we’ve done thus far.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
It has not been a smooth road whatsoever because I didn’t really know what I was doing from a business aspect. I just knew I wanted to help others in need. Unfortunately, It’s not that simple once you become the founder of a nonprofit organization.

Overseeing a nonprofit comes with a lot of paperwork, documentation, deadlines, verification, and waiting for approvals from both the government and the state. There are extremely strict laws and rules one must follow to become compliant and remain compliant.

I grew extremely frustrated because there was so much to learn and I didn’t have anyone I knew on a personal level that I could go to for advice, guidance, or assistance. I remember thinking and feeling, “It shouldn’t be this hard to help others!” The lack of knowledge concerning operating a nonprofit was overwhelming at times. I would remind myself that God gave me this assignment and I have to be obedient. I prayed to ask him to send my guidance. I prayed for God to send honest, caring, people in my life to help nurture and mentor me as I strive to do something good in this world.

Overseeing nonprofits demands your time and undivided attention. I still work a full-time job Mon-Friday so I had to dedicate my weekends and free time to volunteering, networking, researching, and becoming more knowledgeable on something I’m so passionate about. I feel there’s still so much I have to learn to continue to elevate.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I’m an Early Childhood Educator. I’ve worked in this field for over 15 years. I strive to implement a fun, rich, and vibrant learning experience for young learners and their families. I absolutely love working with children. I’m known for the excellent care, love, and devotion I provide to my students and their parents. I am most proud of the positive, lifelong relationship I’ve built with families over the years.

I’m also proud of the work I do within my nonprofit to assist others. Lastly, I’m proud of my most recent accomplishment. I’m now an author of two children’s books. I have an alphabet activity coloring book titled “ Alphabet Activity Book for Kids”. I also have a reading book titled “1,2,3 Count With Me!” I created both books within four weeks. I love challenging myself to step outside my comfort zone.

What do you like and dislike about the city?
The thing I like best about our city is how much it is growing and gaining more opportunities for employment, entrepreneurship, fun, and adventure. I least like the extremely expensive cost of living for the average person and the high tax rate. Seems it’s more expensive to rent a house or apartment than it is to pay the mortgage.
