Today we’d like to introduce you to Sarah Fuqua.
Hi Sarah, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
My passion for birth started at 11 years old when I was able to witness my first homebirth. Ever since then, I have had a love for mother and baby care but had no idea where it would take me.
At 16 years old, I attended my first birth as a sibling doula. By Spring of 2019, I signed up for a doula training by a local midwife and have been serving families all around Tennessee ever since. I am so humbled and honored when a mother, her partner and her family choose me to care for them during such a sacred time. I will never get over this work I get to do!
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
It has not been an easy road. I started out on a completely different path, knowing so well my passion was birthwork. Knowing that I was truly called to this work, I quickly left nursing school and started RW. We’ve had our tough moments with births happening at the same time, crazy on call schedules, a pandemic and many sleepless nights but I am so glad to be running Rebirthing Wellness with the best team beside me.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am a birth and postpartum doula.
I offer prenatal, birth and postpartum support.
I specialize in VBAC, loss, multiples, natural and medicated birth.
If you had to, what characteristic of yours would you give the most credit to?
The quality I feel is most important to the success of RW is how passionate the team and I care about serving our clients. We are thrilled to wake up in the middle of the night and run out to a birth just because we get to serve our sweet families.
