Today we’d like to introduce you to Shane Cunningham.
Shane, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I’m a 28-year-old Irish Host & Impressionist from Galway Ireland. Been based out of New York City for the past three years with eyes on Nashville for the next adventure. From a young age, entertainment is all I’ve ever known having performed to large crowds all over Ireland, The UK, and more recently the U.S.
I do a wide range of celebrity impersonations that have attracted a lot quite the following, particularly online and social media. My dream is to have my own television show someday. The next Jimmy Fallon, Conan, or the likes. I have an extreme passion for performing and hosting events. Any event. I bring something different and unique to any occasion through the use of comedy and impressions.
My love for country music was always strong having grown up in a small close-knit community, my parents are big country music lovers and so it was distilled into my DNA. My move to Nashville is to fulfill my dream while enjoying the country music scene along the way. Truly living “the best of both worlds”.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Absolutely not! There are days when you feel like giving up but then remember that giving up isn’t an option when you moved 5000 miles away from home to make a better life for yourself, your family, etc. Nothing great ever came easy and I’m determined to do what it takes to get myself to the next level.
There are days when I’m away for work that I miss my family at home and not getting to spend quality time with them, but it’s all part of a bigger plan and ultimately what motivates me to keep going strong.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I am very fortunate to have the ability to do uncanny celebrity impressions, stand-up comedy & host live events whether is country music shows, comedy shows, or cooperate events you name it. This alongside my insane work ethic is what one would say sets me apart from others. It’s defiantly my ability to impersonate characters that have allowed me to stand out from my peers.
I would have to say performing at sold-out prestigious venues all over Ireland & the UK would be right up there with the most things I’m proud of. I think it’s also important to note that moving 5000 miles away from home is an achievement in itself and making it work no matter how bumpy the road may get.
I’ve done a lot of things since coming to the U.S. that I’m proud of. From appearing on The Steve Harvey Show to being cast on the reality TV series ‘Serving the Hamptons’ which airs on HBO Max next month.
Can you tell us more about what you were like growing up?
I was defiantly outgoing and always wanted to be the class clown. Deep down the passion I have today came from always wanting to make others laugh and always trying to better situations in whatever way I could.
This took its toll on school as you can imagine! but we made it work lol.
Interests would have included: drama, theatre, voice acting, and anything performance-based I was there.
Of course, I was a guy’s guy having played football and loved chilling out with friends. always up to no good and finding new ways to keep life interesting. Even to this day I always make time to hang out with those who have my back. being away from home can be daunting for a lot of people and It’s important to look out for one another.
