Conversations with Takela Room

Today we’d like to introduce you to Takela Room. Them and their team share their story with us below:

Takela Room is a new upcoming comedian born and raised in North Chattanooga. Takela Room’s comic career began on her mother’s birthday March 11th, 2021 when she attended a comedy show at MP Grill and confidently offered to do 5 mins. set.

It was then that the jokes rolled right off her tongue effortlessly and drew the audience’s curiosity through the roof. Currently, she is being booked in Nashville & occasionally she travels to Chattanooga to do shows and all proceeds are donated to the homeless. Her most recent project was a parody skit “Purple Color”, which was shared by Nick Cannon on Instagram.

Nominated and awarded class clown in middle school and high school every year gifted a rare humorous personality within herself. After less than a year in her career, she was nominated for best comedian at the BEC awards in Chattanooga. Her goal is to heal people in pain through comedy. “Laugh at your pain and you can heal from anything.” – Takela Room.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It hasn’t been a smooth road because success begins with failure.

My 1st show is in Nashville. I bombed became I was overly excited and need to humble myself. Having lost my father a veteran 2/17/2019 and then divorced in October 2021. I moved to Nashville to advance my career in comedy and acting. I believe adversity creates stars.

Pressure equals purpose.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I currently am an individual sales specialist for BCBST. I am an expert, one of few chosen for this position. I’m proud of where I am today. I’ve failed and succeeded but never gave up on me.

I also work for the Frist Museum, DoorDash, and Lyft.

What makes you happy?
Being able to see smiles and bring laughter to strangers. Hearing others laugh heals my pain trapped inside. Knowing that one day my dream of using laughter to heal the world. I plan to make the world laugh.

We all can use some healing. Laughter is the remedy to healing internal wounds.
