Conversations with Tarik Jalil

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tarik Jalil.

Hi Tarik, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I started writing lyrics when I was 14 and from there it just grew into what I am today. It has truly formed itself not only into a passion but an undeniable talent of mine that is god giving. Really is a big part of who I am as a man.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It has been a journey only Allah can write out if you were to ask 3 years ago where do I see myself? I would tell you I would be one of the biggest talents in music, but it hasn’t been my season yet. I never thought I would be driving trucks and doing music at the same time but it’s working at my benefit. It is a rough journey at times but it’s my story and I love how it’s unfolding.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
My main job is trucking it is what I use to support my music and loved ones I been in the industry for about 6 months now. It was rough at first it took a lot to get use to, because of the fact I felt like it was taking away from my music. I had to do some growing and maturing to fully understand that this was going benefit my life in ways I couldn’t imagine and it really has. I’m way more discipline and focused, I have more time to think plot ideas, I see so many places and new faces that I can use to my advantage with my music so it’s works for me for truly and I’m grateful.

What do you like best about our city? What do you like least?
I love everything about where I’m from I take pride in saying I’m from Athens
