Conversations with The Band Waleska

Today we’d like to introduce you to The Band Waleska.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
They say heartache and tragedy are a songwriter’s biggest motivator. The Band Waleska was formed in 2017 by 4 lifelong friends, Hunter Lanning, Nolan Hawthorne, Skylar Scales, and Caleb (Mr. Waleska) Gayton, after the tragic and accidental passing of their brother and best friend Logan “Shakey” Hall (that is why the “L” in the logo has angel wings). In order to keep their sanity, these “WALESKA BOYS” started playing music together in a non-heated barn in the middle of the winter.

After writing a catalogue full of songs, they decided to take things to the next level. They took their music to Wishbone Studios in the legendary music city of Muscle Shoals, Alabama where they recorded their first songs “Drinkin Again” & “Devil in my head” and “27” all written by Mr. Waleska himself. Followed by songs written by the other members such as, “Georgia Shine”, “Wildflower”, and “Caffeine & Nicotine”.

A short time later they added more talent to the band, introducing Wiley Sims on keyboard, and Drew Ferney on drums. This 6 piece band is built on “Firewater” Rock N Roll that is sure to cut straight to your soul with their original music and lyrics. Surrounding their original music with tunes that you are certain to know and love, WALESKA brings nothing short of pure talent and a rowdy atmosphere to every venue they play.

Thanks to the most loyal and dedicated fanbase out there, they have had much recent success filling up venues and selling out shows. Make sure to tune in to your favorite streaming platform to listen to them, and keep an eye on social media for their next show near you!

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
The road for us Waleska boys has been very blessed and smooth. Minor setbacks, of course. Nothing major. Shoutout to the man above for that!

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Us “Waleska Boys” pride ourselves on having a vast variety of original music. Each member of the band has written at least 1-2 songs comprised of their own lyrics!

Any advice for finding a mentor or networking in general?
We have never met a stranger! Networking is such an important and essential tool for growing your music. Get out there and talk to anyone and everyone! We love hearing how our songs have touched people’s lives in their times of need!
