Today we’d like to introduce you to Tia Cristy.
Hi Tia, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
Like many great stories, mine didn’t start with a perfectly mapped-out plan—it started behind a microphone.
I started my career in radio, working in major markets where I discovered just how powerful communication could be. Every day, I had the opportunity to connect with thousands of listeners, and I quickly learned that May Angelou was right, and people don’t just remember what you say—they remember how you make them feel. Those years taught me how to tell stories, build relationships, and create authentic connections, lessons that would shape every chapter of my career.
In 2012, while still doing the radio thing, I launched Tips from Tia. What began as a passion project was simply my way of helping people navigate everyday life with practical advice. I wanted to create a place where people could find honest, relatable tips on everything from health and beauty to relationships, home, communication, and the topics people often shy away from discussing. My mission has always been to make the uncomfortable comfortable.
To my surprise, that little side project took on a life of its own. Tips from Tia grew into an internationally recognized lifestyle brand, earning nominations for the Webby Awards, Lovie Awards, and UK Blog Awards while building a community of more than 140,000 subscribers and followers around the world. It was an incredible reminder that when you genuinely serve people, they keep coming back.
As my platform expanded, I found myself speaking more frequently about communication—not just as a presenter, but as someone who believed our voices have the power to transform our lives. That journey eventually led me to one of the defining moments of my career: delivering my TEDx talk, It’s All Stress: The Frazzler vs. The Silent Stressor. Seeing that message resonate with audiences around the world reinforced something I had believed for years: the conversations we have—with others and with ourselves—shape everything.
Following TEDx, new opportunities continued to unfold. I became the Lifestyle Editor for She Talks Magazine, published as an international bestselling author, appeared across television, radio, podcasts, and media outlets, and had the privilege of working with entrepreneurs, executives, celebrities, and even royalty. Every experience pointed back to the same truth: communication is one of the most valuable skills we can develop.
Today, I get to help others discover the confidence to use their own voices.
As a Global Communications Expert, keynote speaker, and corporate consultant, I work with organizations, executives, entrepreneurs, brands, individuals, and emerging leaders to strengthen communication, build meaningful relationships, and create genuine human connection. Whether I’m delivering a keynote, coaching leaders, facilitating executive workshops, or helping companies improve communication across their teams, my goal is always the same: to help people communicate with confidence and authenticity.
Looking back, every step has prepared me for the next. Radio taught me how to connect. Tips from Tia taught me how to serve. TEDx gave my message a global stage. Today, I have the privilege of helping others find their voice, strengthen their relationships, and create lasting impact through the power of communication.
At the heart of everything I do is one simple belief: your voice is one of the most powerful tools you’ll ever have. When you learn to use it well, it has the ability to change not only your career, but your relationships—and ultimately, your life.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Not at all. If anything, I’ve learned that the most meaningful chapters of my life have been born from some of my hardest seasons.
Tips from Tia actually came out of one of the darkest times in my life. I was facing a major health challenge that completely shifted my perspective. During that time, I realized how overwhelming life can feel when you’re simply trying to get through the day. I began sharing practical tips and solutions that I had stored in my fuzzy brain at the time as a form of therapy for my motor skills, never imagining that something created during my own struggle would eventually help so many others. Looking back, that difficult season became a great foundation for my purpose.
Like many people, the pandemic brought another set of challenges. As the world slowed down, it gave me time to reflect on where I wanted to make the biggest impact. That reflection led to my TEDx talk, It’s All Stress: The Frazzler vs. The Silent Stressor. It was a message born from a time when stress, uncertainty, and isolation touched nearly everyone. Sharing that talk reminded me that vulnerability isn’t a weakness—it’s often the very thing that allows us to connect with others in meaningful ways.
Of course, there have been the everyday entrepreneurial challenges too—building a business from the ground up, learning to wear every hat, navigating changing industries, hearing “no” more times than I can count, and continuing to believe in a vision before everyone else could see it. But I’ve come to realize that setbacks aren’t roadblocks; they’re often redirections.
Today, when I stand on stage or work with leaders and organizations, I don’t speak from theory. I speak from experience. Every challenge I’ve faced has strengthened my empathy, shaped my message, and reminded me that some of our greatest opportunities can come from the moments we never would have chosen for ourselves.
If my journey has taught me anything, it’s that your story doesn’t have to begin perfectly to become something powerful.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
At the heart of my work is helping organizations solve one of the most expensive problems they often don’t realize they have: communication breakdowns.
As a Global Communications Expert, keynote speaker, and executive consultant, I specialize in improving communication from the boardroom to the breakroom. While many people focus on teaching presentation skills or public speaking, I go much deeper. I help organizations uncover where communication is breaking down, why it’s happening, and how to fix it before it impacts productivity, culture, retention, and profitability.
One of the programs I’m most passionate about is my Communication Breakdown Audit. I work directly with leadership teams to identify hidden communication gaps that are costing organizations time, money, and trust. Through interviews, assessments, and strategic analysis, I provide leaders with a clear picture of what’s working, what’s not, and a practical roadmap for improving communication across every level of the organization. Often, the biggest issue isn’t that people aren’t communicating— but as George Benard Shaw once said, the problem is that they think they are.
I’m also known for helping people find their natural voice. Whether I’m coaching executives, speaking on stage, or leading workshops, my goal is to help people communicate with confidence while remaining authentic. I believe the best communicators aren’t the loudest people in the room—they’re the ones who create connection.
What I’m most proud of is seeing the transformation that happens when people truly begin to understand one another. Whether it’s a leadership team communicating more effectively, an employee finally feeling heard, or an executive discovering a more authentic leadership style, those moments create lasting change that extends far beyond the workplace.
What sets me apart is that I don’t teach communication as a script or a formula. My background in media, broadcasting, influence, business, and coaching has shown me that every organization and every individual communicates differently. I combine real-world experience with practical strategies to help people build stronger relationships, healthier workplace cultures, and more effective teams. At the end of the day, communication isn’t just about talking—it’s about creating understanding. That’s where real transformation begins.
What does success mean to you?
Success has never been defined by titles, awards, or the size of a paycheck. For me, success is being able to look at myself in the mirror every day and know that I’ve lived with integrity—that I’ve stayed true to my values, kept my word, and used my voice to make a positive difference.
I’ve also come to realize that changing the world doesn’t always mean being an island. I may never cure cancer, but maybe I can give a voice to the person who does. Maybe I can help a leader communicate in a way that inspires innovation, encourage someone to finally share an idea they’ve been afraid to speak aloud, or help a person find the confidence to tell their story. Those ripple effects matter.
I thank God for being able to be part of people’s stories each day, while helping them find that story. It’s truly rewarding. If I can leave people feeling more seen, more heard, and more confident than they were before we met, then I consider that a successful day.
