Today, we’d like to introduce you to Tiffany Johanneson.

Tiffany Johanneson

Hi Tiffany, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today.
I dove into the idea of organizing soon after moving into the Nashville area about five years ago. Following behind my parents, who moved here just a year before me, newborn in tote, I planted my roots. Determined more than ever to build my own business, be my own boss, and have control of my schedule with the kind of freedom an ambitious newly single mother could only dream of.

With a strong background in event planning, sales, business management, and communication, I’ve always had a keen sense of spatiality, an eye for design, and a heart for helping others. I really just started by posting organizing and cleaning services in local Facebook groups, where I did manage to land some organizing jobs, but the demand for cleaning services quickly somehow started to fill mostly all my time and schedule. 3 years in, I realized I was physically exhausted, bored, and unfulfilled, spending 40 hours a week scrubbing and mopping.

I decided I would need to completely stop offering cleaning services and re-position myself to go all in on my organizing services and my original dream. I did a little rebranding to reignite the excitement and registered my business. I built a website and made a Thumbtack profile. 14 months later, I’m now booked up 2 weeks out and just contracted an assistant to help me with my larger projects!

We all face challenges, but would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It has not been a smooth sail, as I definitely had my share of bumps and bruises. I’ve learned many lessons and have had to find time for many things.

From the organizing process itself to handling consultations, securing jobs professionally, pricing, estimating, and figuring out the best supplies needed for daily work and for proper bins needed for each project within my client’s budgets and needs. I continue to face new challenges all the time as every job requires planning and coordination given the space, budget, and each client’s specific needs/challenges.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe you can tell us more about your work next?
I believe my creativity is what really sets me apart. I have great confidence in coming up with a solution for any organizational, design, or functionality issue. I’m kind of like the female Macgiver, lol. I am able to utilize various items in the home to help assist me in my organizing, especially if my client is on a lower budget. I have a keen eye for spaciality and am a good listener.

The more time I can spend talking with a client beforehand and understanding them as a person, their needs, worries, challenges, hopes, dreams, and struggles, along with the routines of each household member, the more I can really provide the best final outcome in relation to each individual project.

My “WHY” is deeply invested in the overall impact I can make in the lives of others. So, although I adore an amazing “After” reveal just as much as the next, I’m sustained by a deeper purpose… I guess you could say that my “Special Sauce.”

What would you say has been one of the most important lessons you’ve learned?
Communication is key. I like to be very clear and transparent and really encourage my clients to do the same with me, especially with what they like, don’t like, and their comfort. I am very good at reading people and connecting, but I find asking questions and ensuring that my plan, each step of the way, is satisfactory to their desired outcome.

That being said I do sometimes have to lightly push people out of their comfort zone in order to create this. It’s almost impossible to organize what there is just too much for or too little space for. There has to be some give and take for sure!
