Today we’d like to introduce you to Trinity Ayscue.
Trinity, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I began photography at the age of 14! I captured whatever caught my eye, I didn’t have a passion for it quite yet. Once I moved to Tennessee at the age of 18, I then for a few years became involved in the local punk and hardcore scene shooting shows on my own with an Instax film camera, I can’t tell you how many of those little Polaroid photos I still have. I developed a love for live event photography that manifested into me wanting to pursue it as a career. From there, I began reaching out to local venues about more high production shows I was interested in shooting to see if I could snag a spot, and I haven’t been given a no yet! Fingers crossed!
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
I believe my biggest obstacle has been gaining the confidence to keep going. This lack of confidence and security within myself has led me down some dark paths, but I am now on the path of resilience! While my time here in the Middle Tennessee area has been more of an ebb and flow with getting myself acquainted with local communities and putting myself out there, I have made it a goal for myself this year to be heard and to be seen! It’s hard to fight those everyday battles of convincing yourself you belong in the same room as these other creatives who’ve been achieving the same goals that you have been chasing after yourself, but a recent quote that I heard put things into perspective for me: “Stages are huge, there’s room for everyone!”
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I do live event photography in the Nashville area! My work ranges from local shows, to touring acts, to pole showcases, etc.! I’m most proud of the connections I have made by simply putting myself out there and the variety of communities that I try to integrate myself into. I don’t know if there is anything in particular that sets me apart from other artists, my focus is to do things that make feel fulfilled and the rest will follow. 🙂
We’d love to hear about any fond memories you have from when you were growing up?
I began photography with the help of my dad! He has always been so talented and he continues to inspire me everyday! We used to make horror short films together until I became a moody teenager and then moved from our home in North Carolina at 18, I’m hoping my next visit back we can create something new together!
