Conversations with Trystan Grisham

Today we’d like to introduce you to Trystan Grisham.

Trystan, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I was born and raised in southeast Iowa. Growing up on classic rock and country, I played the local circuits throughout Iowa Illinois and Missouri with various genre cover and original bands. Cutting my teeth for the better part of 15 years, I decided it would be time to make the move to Nashville and try my hand at a bigger playing field. After moving to town, I hit the ground running and started playing venues around town throughout Broadway, Opry Mills Mall, and all over various suburbs. About a month in I took a gig playing guitar for Macartney Reinhardt and the rest is history. I spend most of my time traveling the country playing gigs or writing songs with some of my closest collaborators. Every day is a new adventure getting to work in music full time.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
There are always complications along the way, but it has been an incredible journey. First moving to town I had to network almost every day. Meeting new musicians, writers, artists, publishers, etc… has been the biggest key to continued work and creating new friendships. I feel very fortunate to have created so many connections so quickly.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I am a musician, singer, songwriter, and music producer. I love crafting songs with the amazing writers in Nashville, and playing gigs with some of the most talented musicians and artists around. Outside of solo shows, I play guitar for Macartney Reinhardt. I feel very fortunate to be in a camp with talented musicians traveling the country. We were a part of the Grand Ole Opry 100 Concert Series, and travel everywhere from New Jersey to Florida to Chicago.

We love surprises, fun facts and unexpected stories. Is there something you can share that might surprise us?
I am a huge music fan of all genres. Most of my work consists around country and rock, but I have spent many years working in various genres. I have produced in the fields of hip hop, RnB, and pop, performed as a pit band member for musicals and show choir, and love everything heavy music. Growing up on punk and metal add an edge to every genre I get to take part in just as much as my love for old country and outlaw music. You can find me listening to everything from Slipknot to Prince to Johnny Cash.
