Today we’d like to introduce you to Tyrell Farley.
Hi Tyrell, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
For a few years, I’ve been doing a lot of soul searching & finally came up with a major life/level-up changing moment.
So, for 15 in-half years I’ve been dancing, in high school (McGavock High) I was on the dance team called the All-Stars where I was co-caption for my last two years. later on, 3 in-half years after that I signed up for professional training with “Dorinda & Zach Walker” my mentors that taught me all the ends and out of the industry. I still keep in contact with them and constantly grab advice from them even after the crew was over.
During a crew called Dreamer Society, I learned the fundamentals & knowledge about becoming a professional dancer. Because of the crew, I’ve been able to build my resume up with (2) Award shows (48th Dove awards with “Steven Malcom & The Stellar Awards with Jonathan McReynolds; Music Videos by Bryan Popin (Step in The Name) also By Unspoken (Open the clouds). Danced in (1) a Movie called “Hate New Year’s”; An extra in another movie called “It’s Christmas Again, (2) Plays “Rock Steady; The Winter Fairies & Performing Several Live Performances with Nashville’s big local Artists that are still on the uprising. Now current in a Tv series called Trapped IN premiering this Summer 2023 my character Jun.
In currently redirecting my occupation slightly with a new focus & goal to help define more of Me and my brand PhreshKoast. How I would define my choreography is that I will listen to or have heard of a song that I like and or can relate to and I would lay out whatever emotions or thoughts that are going on in my life to create a visual that brings out the message of the what the song means. I’m always creating a storyboard to fit the routine mostly to explain what I’m trying to stay with words but in dance/music.
I’m currently working on an 11th monthly visual where I post a visual every month. My reason behind that is to work more on my creative side and storytelling to constantly think outside the box. Give more details and meaning, and collaborate with others to grab inspiration from one artist to another. I’m currently working towards training and working with “Sean Bankhead” a well-known choreographer in Atlanta. He is one of my top dancers and choreographers that I look to for inspiration and big shoes to fill. The type of resume he has is my goal from choreographing award shows; movies; tv series, etc.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
I would say it’s been a smooth road only because I’m constantly praying and talking to God and asking for guidance and advice.
With the mentors, I have been taught to understand that you will hear a lot of no’s before you get one, yes so I’ve always prepared myself for whatever the lord puts on my table.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I creatively direct and choreograph.
I specialize in creating choreography and making a storyline. Through music by adding my own concept visual. I’m known for being the life of the part but also a hot head & stubborn at times but that’s the Taurus in me. The most thing I’m proud of is that all the hard work manifestation I’ve put into being a dancer/artist is starting to become real life to me.
What sets me apart from others is my energy; vibes; a personality which can rub off on you. I’m someone that you will never forget it. My presence can fill a room up. You will remember me cause I’ll have your spline falling out due to so much laughter. I’m a comedian and I don’t even know it.
Risk-taking is a topic that people have widely differing views on – we’d love to hear your thoughts.
Honestly taking risks is hard for me to do. I rather get myself prepared them to be unprepared and go backward.
Once I’ve moved forward I don’t like to look back. Sometimes when you fail shortly it’s hard to climb right back up.
Starting over is just not an option I like to think about.
