Today we’d like to introduce you to Wilfredo Ramos.
Hi Wilfredo, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My journey into photography began when I moved from Poughkeepsie, New York, to the Bronx at the age of 31. A close friend invited me to join his video production team, where I learned the fundamentals of production—from setting up lighting and preparing film sets to working on music videos and short films. That experience gave me a strong foundation in visual storytelling and production.
After the team eventually went our separate ways, I continued pursuing photography on my own. I spent years covering hip-hop events, shooting music videos, and constantly refining my craft. Everything changed when I attended my first fashion show, Runway 7. I was immediately inspired by the creativity, artistry, and emotion behind fashion, and I knew that fashion photography was the direction I wanted to pursue.
As my career grew, I also experienced the challenges of finding opportunities to showcase my work. Rather than allowing closed doors to define my path, I decided to create my own opportunities. After being published 63 times in just three months, I launched VÉRITÉ LUXÈ Magazine.
VÉRITÉ LUXÈ, which translates to “Luxury Truth,” was built on the belief that every creative has a story worth telling. The magazine is dedicated to highlighting not only celebrities and well-known influencers, but also emerging designers, models, photographers, makeup artists, and other creatives who deserve to have their journeys recognized. My mission is to create a platform where passion, perseverance, and authenticity are celebrated, giving talented individuals the visibility and opportunities they may not otherwise receive.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. Like many entrepreneurs and creatives, I’ve faced my share of challenges and setbacks. From the beginning, I believed I could build something meaningful—something that would leave a lasting legacy for my children and inspire others. That belief has kept me moving forward, even during the most difficult times.
Building my career required countless sacrifices. There were periods when I invested everything I had into my dream, often with little or no financial return. Many opportunities I hoped for never came, and doors were closed by people who had promised to help. As my journey continued, some friends and even family questioned my decisions because they didn’t see immediate financial success.
Those experiences taught me that success isn’t built overnight. I came to understand that one of the greatest investments you can make is in relationships and networking. The connections you build, the trust you earn, and the people you meet often become the foundation for future opportunities.
There have also been long nights, countless hours of work, and moments of self-doubt. But I’ve learned that discipline, consistency, and believing in your vision are what separate those who give up from those who keep growing. I believe your dream has to become part of your daily life—you have to live it, breathe it, and continue showing up even when no one else sees the vision yet.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I am a photographer, videographer, and co-owner of VÉRITÉ LUXÈ Magazine. My passion is visual storytelling—capturing authentic moments through photography and video while telling the stories behind the people in front of the camera. Whether I’m covering fashion shows, editorial shoots, or creative productions, my goal is to create work that connects with people on a deeper level.
Through VÉRITÉ LUXÈ Magazine, I specialize in giving a voice to those whose stories often go unheard. While we celebrate established professionals, we’re equally committed to highlighting emerging models, designers, photographers, makeup artists, and entrepreneurs who deserve a platform to share their journeys. I believe every person has a story worth telling, regardless of their following or status.
What I’m most proud of is seeing this dream become a reality. Coming from a childhood spent in group homes and spending much of my twenties searching for where I truly belonged, I never imagined I’d build something that could positively impact so many people. Looking back, I realize photography was always my calling, and creating the magazine allowed me to expand that passion into something even greater.
One of the most rewarding parts of my work is hearing how our magazine features have touched people’s lives. I’ve had individuals, mothers, and fathers tell me they were moved to tears after seeing their stories and accomplishments recognized. Knowing that my work can inspire, encourage, and remind people that their journey matters is what drives me every day.
What sets me apart is that I don’t measure someone’s worth by their popularity or follower count. I focus on passion, perseverance, and authenticity. My mission is to create opportunities, celebrate real stories, and leave a legacy by helping others be seen, heard, and remembered.
Do you have any advice for those looking to network or find a mentor?
I don’t believe success comes from having just one mentor. Throughout my journey, I’ve been fortunate to learn from many incredible people. Every photographer, designer, producer, entrepreneur, and creative I’ve met has taught me something valuable. I believe life naturally brings different mentors into your path at different stages, and if you’re willing to listen and learn, every relationship can help you grow.
Networking has been one of the biggest keys to my success. I’ve found that the best connections come from being genuine, building real relationships, and supporting others without expecting anything in return. People remember authenticity, consistency, and the way you make them feel far more than a business card or a social media following.
My advice is to stay humble, be open to learning, and never underestimate the power of simply introducing yourself and having a conversation. Some of the greatest opportunities in my career have come from relationships that started with a simple connection. Success isn’t just about talent—it’s about the people you surround yourself with, the trust you build, and the value you bring to others over time.
