Today we’d like to introduce you to Zëta Ræ.
Hi Zëta, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Growing up, I always loved singing and performing. I moved around a lot, and as an only child, I spent a lot of time on my own, which gave me the opportunity to build a rich inner world. I sang everywhere I could – choir, musicals, church, talent shows – which eventually led me to attend Berklee College of Music. It was there that I discovered my love for songwriting and music production, and in 2020, I released my first EP under the name Zëta Ræ. I’ve continued to put out several songs and projects over the years.
Nearly four years ago, I moved to Nashville and dove headfirst into writing, performing, and becoming part of the city’s music community. I’m currently working on my debut album, set for release in 2027, and you’ll be able to catch me playing plenty of shows in the meantime!
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It definitely hasn’t always been easy. Pursuing music and building a life as an artist is incredibly challenging, but I think that’s part of why I love it. It’s expensive, constantly pushes you to solve problems and adapt, and invites you to look at yourself from an outside perspective – which can be deeply confronting at times.
But creating art, sharing it, having the opportunity to connect with people through music, and continually pushing yourself toward something bigger are the most rewarding feelings I’ve ever experienced.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I primarily make alternative pop/rock, but I definitely don’t fit the typical mold. I’ve studied and listened to a wide variety of genres, and I love bringing those influences into my work. I’m passionate about production and never afraid to blend unexpected sounds. My music can be cinematic, jazzy, ambient, glitchy, textbook, and experimental at times. I know who I am as an artist, but I’m never afraid to continue exploring.
I’m always pushing myself as a vocalist. I love crafting melodies that are catchy yet slightly unpredictable, and I especially enjoy building intricate vocal arrangements and layered harmonies.
In terms of your work and the industry, what are some of the changes you are expecting to see over the next five to ten years?
Honestly, it’s so hard to say! The music industry is changing so quickly with AI, streaming, major label shifts, TikTok, and the way people discover music. It’s exciting, but it’s also incredibly intimidating.
One thing I do believe is that honest art will always shine through. I think we’re moving toward a place where more experimental music continues to become part of the mainstream, and that’s something I absolutely love. I’m also really excited about the rock resurgence happening right now and seeing heavier, guitar-driven music find a bigger audience again.
