Today we’d like to introduce you to Abigail Fowler.
Hi Abigail, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
To help fellow Arkansans like myself during this pro-life crisis, my design firm, Abigail Fowler Designs, has created a product line to fund travel for people in Arkansas with uteruses crossing the state border to get a safe abortion.
The new collection and program: A Friend of Ruth’s. We’ve mixed minimalist illustrations, feminist ideals, and a renaissance-styled color palette to craft pieces we know you’ll adore. Our program for transportation will start in 2023 and will be based on the proceeds collected from this collection. We hope this will aid in more safe abortions, even in states where that might not be a possibility. We are limiting this to Arkansas as we have a company base and can best help people if we allocate funds solely to where we are based. I have raised a democratic farmer’s daughter in the small southwest Arkansas town of Arkadelphia. After graduating from Ouachita Baptist University with a BA in Graphic Design, Mass Communications, and French, I moved to NYC.
During my time in the Big Apple, I became one of the top salespeople for J. Crew’s menswear department at their flagship store, aiding in forming Frontside Marketing. I am now COO of and became Marketing and Creative Director of QG Floral at 24. and started this design firm.
In 2020 I moved back to Arkansas to expand my design firm, Abigail Fowler Designs, and help other artists in this southern part of the state have more job opportunities. When I have free time, I’m still working: starting a menswear company, Bourbonbouquets.us, which is in a prelaunch stage now, and attending Harvard Extension School’s master’s program for Museum Studies. It is truly a joy to build up businesses in my hometown while keeping my New York ties and helping others.
Can you talk to us about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
PTSD survivor and diagnosed with high-functioning bipolar 2. Major advocate for mental health and equal access to healthcare for all due to these life experiences.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I specialize in design work: clients include but are not limited to contracts to freelance for Dylan’s Candy Bar, label designs for L’uva Bella Winery, exclusive website design partner with Wix.com, central designer for 800 Democrat, and more. Working on so many different styles and mediums to match each client’s needs is thrilling.
Never a dull moment, and there is always a challenge! Abigail Fowler Designs is broken into 4 departments: corporate work, wedding/bespoke, e-commerce, and photography. Helping train employees to dive into these specific fields while dabbling in all of them myself is thrilling.
What does success mean to you?
Success is defined by becoming self-aware of your flaws and embracing/taking accountability for them, listening to others, and going after what you find joy in without comping. It is easy to use your flaws as an excuse, not allow all thought processes to be heard, and make excuses for walking away from something you love when you realize it’s work. Unfortunately, that will never make you successful in life. It will keep you in a bubble.
