Daily Inspiration: Meet Aja Founder of Boho Halo

Today we’d like to introduce you to Aja Camerlingo.

Hi Aja, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
As a graduate of the Fashion Institute in Manhattan, I always knew I wanted to do something along the lines of fashion and design.

Many trials and tribulations later and unsuccessfully making it in the fashion industry as a buyer I fell into jewelry design and haven’t looked back. It’s a passion I love working with my hands and sharing my wearable art with others.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle-free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
A lot of industry’s extremely competitive. Fashion is one of the most. For many years, I tried to make it as a buyer and or fashion stylist.  And for a short period of time, I did both but it wasn’t in the cards for me to succeed in either of those careers.

However, I learned some invaluable experience being around other highly successful brands and fashion moguls.

And without those experiences, I truly don’t think I would be where I am today. Running my own business designing my own jewelry and clothing.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
My company name is BohoHalo. It translates to free spirit. I design wearable accessories and unique clothing and art pieces all adorned and embellished with wings.

Putting our signature wings on everything is a symbol that defines the brand and what we stand for a.k.a. believing in your dreams, spreading your wings, and soaring straight through them.

What do you think about luck?
When I was let go from a dream job as a fashion stylist due to the company having to downsize I felt like my world was over and the hopes of ever being successful in the fashion industry diminished.

I made the choice to move from living the big city life back home to the remote suburbs of Long Island where I was forced to put my passion into another avenue. That’s when I started designing jewelry. My first piece was called the BoHo halo which is a choker-style accessory that can also be worn as a crown.

What’s fun about the halo is you can personalize it by choosing any charm from our large selection to dangle in the center. This adds sentiment and intention and we offer an array of charms so there is something that resonates with everyone.

The boho halo is still a best seller and extremely affordable at only 20$ a piece. It comes with two of our signature wings that dangle down the back or over each shoulder. Each enshrined with a boho halo translating To free spirit.

Our slogan is “Wherever you go leave nothing but the inspiration behind and always allow your halo to shine.” Also, we have a tag line “handmade things with wings “
