Today we’d like to introduce you to Alex “Woody” Woodrow. Them and their team share their story with us below:
Starting from a small town in New Hampshire, the group found success online with YouTube, Spotify and Apple Music.
Along his journey, he discovered the tools of yoga and meditation to more confidently step into his creative expression and to relieve his chronic back pain. After experiencing the benefits of yoga and meditation he began sharing the tools and techniques with others before his concerts, All with the intention of supporting the people who supported him. A seven years long experiment of investing in others has led to three best-selling self-help books and empowering people all over the globe.
His work helps others to feel good in their body, gain confidence in their life and fully own their personal power.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Learning is messy. Life has ups and downs. Our mindset is most important, especially when we experience the rough roads. Are you seeing roadblocks? Or are you seeing opportunities to learn, grow and become better.
This one time in Stuttgart, Germany our bus driver robbed us of over 15k and left us stranded on the side of the road. Another time we were given a single dollar bill and were told by a promoter to split it with the other touring band, as he ripped it right in our face. We were told we were worthless by one of the biggest agents in our scene. We were promised tours that never happened. The list goes on.
Perhaps one of the biggest for me personally was being told by a doctor I would have chronic debilitating back pain for the rest of my life. So I needed to learn how to deal with it. I lived in pain thinking it was my destiny. Until one day my mom brought me to a yoga class and I discovered the lifestyle shift my pain had been guiding me towards. It sounds weird to say but since that day I have been relieved of that specific pain.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I’ve had the honor of writing three best-selling books over the past three years, all with the intention of empowering others in their mind, their body and their life.
I recently got back from a European book tour where I launched the third book in my “You Are The Rock Star” series titled, “Stage Presence For Life.” On the tour, I traveled around leading meditation and yoga workshops, accompanied with book signings.
I’ve been writing the music to accompany my classes and I look forward to doing a U.S. tour later this year.
I have an online course coming out this summer to accompany the book and help others harness their presence and unlock their power…no matter which stage of life they are presented with.
My books can be found on Amazon.
How do you think about luck?
I think we create luck when we say yes to opportunities and then, stay in action. It’s not enough just to open doors, we have to constantly step through them and explore. We’re guided by forces beyond our comprehension. Trusting we are where we are supposed to be, keeps us open to connecting with others and creating the illusion of luck.
If we work on ourselves and prepare as best we can internally, then we can experience synchronicity. Which in my eye, is more powerful than luck.
