Today we’d like to introduce you to Alexia Noelle Paris.
Hi Alexia, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Since I was old enough to get into the bars, I was fascinated with the art of Drag. I have always been a performer of sorts being a dance minor in college. I got my start in drag by participating in a charity drag show. My drag mother Secret Paris and some other well-known drag queens around town helped me create the persona that is now Alexia Noelle Paris. It only took one time to realize I had been missing the center stage.
Initially, I would only perform in charity shows, but eventually, I started branching out and performing at more events around the Nashville area. The shift was getting the opportunity to open up for Indie Pop artist King Princess at the legendary Exit/In. I wear many hats so by day I work in operations in the healthcare industry, and of course, there are challenges balancing the two. Fortunately, through my work ethic, I have continued to get opportunities to showcase my talents such as hosting Nashville Pride, working with Taco Bell’s Drag Brunch Tour, and performing in Palm Springs and West Hollywood. I am excited about the possibilities ahead and plan to continue performing and starting new ventures.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Since starting drag I have always worked in a professional setting so it is a bit harder to socialize and perform during the week as a lot of drag queens do. I have balanced the two well, but I have also had to decline cool opportunities due to my career outside of drag.
In 2022, I lost the great love of my life and my drag mother. These were 2 people that were a part of my drag journey from the start, and there is definitely a void without them here.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I probably have a much different week than most.
Monday through Friday I work as a director of operations, and then on weekends, I normally perform drag. If you come to one of my drag shows, then you expect to see dancing, flips, splits, handstands, or me jumping off stages. My athletic abilities paired with my overall look usually separate me from other performers.
What matters most to you?
Continuing to elevate my drag is most important to me as showcasing the art to people that are not familiar with drag. People are often afraid of what they do not know or understand. That has been proven with the recent anti-drag bills that have been drafted.
