Today we’d like to introduce you to Anna Budowsky.
Hi Anna, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I’ve been around music my whole life, my parents constantly played different music and my dad has been in bands since his college years, so I was raised to love music. I wrote my first song when I was eight about my dog with a tiny acoustic guitar, I remember I called my Grandma to show her, and for a while, that was the only song I wrote.
When I was 10, I started getting serious about writing songs and became obsessed. I wrote about boys, friends, school, and the general life of a 10-year-old girl. I was learning guitar at the time and had taken piano lessons when I was younger and that gave me a lot of creative freedom once I started I realized I never wanted to stop.
I began to play open-mics and gigs around my hometown of Hollywood, Florida up until I went off to college. I now live in Nashville and I’m still writing about boys, friends, and life but I am now also a producer and am about to get my business degree. Music is and always will be a beautiful centerpiece of my life.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
I don’t know if pursuing a career in the entertainment industry can ever really be smooth. There are so many expectations, doubts, and disappointments. I remember when I was 13 watching the Grammys and thinking to myself that I was going to be there the following year, or maybe the next, or maybe the year after that.
Every year, I felt let down by myself but over the last few years, I feel grateful that I’m on my own path and I’ve let go of expectations beyond that I’m doing it because I love it.
There are times when the negatives feel so big and daunting, but they will always be overshadowed by the fulfillment I get by creating and performing and for that, I am so grateful. I know that it’s not going to get smoother from here, but I’m ready and excited for where this dream takes me next.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I love the arts, it is so much of what I do. I am a singer/songwriter, producer, and performer. Songwriting has always been what I’ve held closest to my heart and what lead me to music, so if I had to say I had a specialty, it would be my songwriting. I was lucky enough to be exposed to so many genres growing up and wonderful artists who worked in multiple genres.
In turn, my music has a lot of varying influences and I want to put out bodies of work that highlight my versatility. I do however think that an artist’s songwriting is what truly sets them apart from others and pulls so many people to them. Lyrics that come from an honest place will always connect with others, and so I work to make my lyrics honest and authentic to myself. I have been producing as well for about three years so that has opened up even more freedom to make my music intrinsically mine.
I also started painting within the last two years and that has been wonderful to link with my music I even began selling them which has been a wonderful side project. (My shop is called Rosebud’s Shop).
I feel a lot of pride that I have taken the time to work on my craft and I now can write a song, produce it, release it, perform it, and even make the artwork! I think it is really important to be able to do things for yourself, especially creatively, it opens up all these doors to work with others and appreciates the workaround you.
So many people are pushing their way into the music industry, and I am trying to do the same. While daunting, I know that my music will always be at the front of it all, and people will hear it and know that it’s me and that it is raw and honest whether it’s synth-pop a ballad, an acoustic tune, or anything.
What was your favorite childhood memory?
I am lucky enough to say that I have so many wonderful childhood memories. Of all the wonderful times, the simpler things are often what I hold closest to my heart.
Every Sunday for a long time, my sister and I and my parents would wake up early and listen to a radio station called “Beatle Brunch” and make pancakes while listening to The Beatles.
The Beatles are a very central part of my musical experience in life and Beatle Brunch Sundays feel like The Beatles in their purest form to me. If I could go back and relive a day from my childhood, it would be a Sunday just for those wonderful mornings.

I have seen this young woman grow up and the music that surrounded her from her birth. Looking forward to the next decade watching and seeing her grow.
