Daily Inspiration: Meet Austin Lee

Today we’d like to introduce you to Austin Lee.

Hi Austin, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I am an Audio Engineer out of Nashville, TN. I got my start in music at an early age playing guitar and ended up falling in love with the Recording/Mixing side of things. I studied audio at The Blackbird Academy (one of the world’s greatest recording studios) and have been working in the industry ever since!

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It hasn’t always been a smooth road and I’m not sure if it will ever get smooth for any engineer. The hardest thing I would say is finding exactly where you fit in within this industry and then managing to stick with it through the long sleepless nights and whatever else it throws at you. There’s always going to be someone they’re eager to be doing what you’re doing regardless of what position you find yourself in.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am a Recording/Mixing engineer in the Nashville area. I specialize in recording and mixing in all genres. My main focus these days has been mainly on mixing but I still love recording artists. I would say I am the most proud of my own personal studio that I built with the help from my dad and work in every day, Big River Studio

Where we are in life is often partly because of others. Who/what else deserves credit for how your story turned out?
I owe a lot of where I am at today to all of my instructors/mentors at The Blackbird Academy. They all really put me into a position to get to where I am at today. Also my parents for always being there to support me through this crazy journey. My wife who I met at Blackbird has also played a huge role in getting me where I’m at today from putting up with my crazy work schedule to motivating and pushing me when I needed it. Last but not least I have to give thanks to all of the artists that have trusted me with their music throughout the years. I can’t thank all of them enough!
