Today we’d like to introduce you to Autumn Hubbell
Hi Autumn, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I grew up in lexington KY, visiting Nashville as often as I could. I have always been drawn to live music, and found myself at plenty of shows throughout high school. I knew I wanted to move to Nashville as soon as I graduated… and so I did! I went to Lipscomb for a year during the height of Covid, and had an interesting first year in Nashville for sure. (lol) I went to school for music myself, but soon realized that I was passionate to help other artists. Since then I’ve been working in the digital marketing world, helping artists strategize their rollout plans for albums. In the past year I got married, bought a house, and adopted our little pup, Lou. It’s been a wild year, but I love my life here in Nashville. I’m so grateful for it.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
I’ve learned a lot that the music industry is not linear. I worked at frothy monkey for a couple of years while I was searching for ways to work in the creative music world. I applied for so many jobs, got turned down from a lot of close opportunities. For a while, I was very discouraged, and felt as if all of my volunteering, passion, drive, and work was leading no where. But eventually it panned out, and now I’m getting to do work full time remotely, for so many artists I genuinely believe in so much.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I am a digital marketing freelancer! I work for a label here in town that I absolutely adore, a vinyl company in town that I also adore, a couple of artist clients that I create short form content for, and some other businesses. I guess you could say I’m known for short form content strategy + involvement in the local music scene! I love getting to work with artists & help them organically reach their audiences. A lot of artists spend years writing an album, recording it, and creating the visuals that they feel narrate the story. In the current state of the music industry, social media is crucial for sharing your music with your audience + reaching new audiences. When you are an artist, you want to focus on the art – not becoming a social media manager. That’s where I come in! I’ll shoot content, edit videos, research trends, research audiences and algorithms, and post for artists. This can help take the mental load of needing to play “influencer” and focus on their artistry without neglecting a major marketing tool. I love helping artists reach their potential, and reach their audiences. One of my proudest moments so far has been watching an artist that I had pitched to a label get signed! I’ve always dreamed of doing A&R work one day, and I just love when incredible talented and hard working artists finally get their flowers, so playing a part in that was beyond rewarding. It feels very valuable to me to help artists. I think what sets me apart from others, is that I care about the music first. Always. I am so freaking passionate about music. I’m not necessarily ‘passionate’ about social media, but I understand the value, so if that’s an avenue that I can help artists I believe in succeed?… heck yes.
How can people work with you, collaborate with you or support you?
