Daily Inspiration: Meet Barrett Betts

Today we’d like to introduce you to Barrett Betts.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I’ve been involved with family business since I was a child. I bought my first house in 7th grade, and worked in the family business (rental property management) and USPS contracting (hauling mail between offices). My father passed away 20 years ago and my mother and I managed the businesses until one day we decided we needed something else…. Something that my parents wanted to always do, which was own some kind of coin operated business. I did my homework and decided a laundromat was for us. We bought property and build a new building, installed top of the line Speed Queen equipment and started a business that we were proud of and that the community was proud of as well. We liked it so much, we did the same thing again 5 years later, and are building store 3 as we speak.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
There have been many struggles, from being the general contract on the building construction, the unknown parts of a new business and just the day to day ins and outs and all the moving parts of commercial laundry equipment

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
My number one goal in our laundromats is customer satisfaction. I take it personally and I try my absolute best to make sure our customers know they are using the best facilities that I can provide. Our customer service sets us apart from all others.

Do you have any advice for those looking to network or find a mentor?
The best mentor anyone can have is themselves. Anyone can give advice, but don’t take advice from anyone that is not where you want to be in life. If you have the drive and desire to make something happen, anything is possible.
