Daily Inspiration: Meet Bobby Montgomery

Today we’d like to introduce you to Bobby Montgomery. Them and their team share their story with us below:

Heather started an online running journal in 2009 to help motivate her as she prepared to run her first half marathon. A lot more people than expected began to read her regular updates. She began to write more about the races we participated in and the viewership kept increasing. Over time we started to get sponsors, rebranded, and expanded content from just fitness to include travel, lifestyle, family, and food. As social media became a thing, we slowly transitioned and now the bulk of our business is through Instagram (@HeathersLG), but the blog is still going strong: www.ThroughHeathersLookingGlass.com 

Bobby eventually got in on the fun as B roll outtakes, but his profile grew as well @Bobbymontg. 

Now we have our daughter Emma Kate and puppies who join us in some of our travels. Getting to spend so much time together is a huge benefit. 

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
The road has been long. It has taken over a decade to get revenues to the point where it could be considered a full-time income. I the sacrifice of working on something you love rather than something that’s going to make you money now would be the biggest hurdle. Other hurdles would include many businesses not understanding the value of social media marketing, missing out on trends we just didn’t know about because there was no social media playbook when we started, and internet bullies.

We travel together and review destinations, venues, and brands.

Our faith and family are the most important aspects of our lives because those are the things that last.
