Today we’d like to introduce you to Brad Ramsey.
Hi Brad, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
My path to interior design was not exactly a straight line, but creativity has always been the common thread. I began college studying landscape architecture, changed my major to drawing and painting, and ultimately earned a degree in music with a focus on vocal performance. I also spent time doing graphic and website design, so I was continually drawn to work that allowed me to create, communicate and shape how something was experienced.
Over time, that creative path led me to interiors, where I realized I could bring together so many of the things I loved: architecture, art, color, composition and storytelling. I eventually founded Brad Ramsey Interiors in Nashville and have grown the firm from a one-person creative endeavor into a collaborative studio designing homes from the architectural phase through the final layers of furnishings and art. The business and the scale of our projects have evolved tremendously, but the heart of the work has remained the same. I want every home to feel personal, collected and meaningful—a reflection of the people who live there rather than simply a display of beautiful things.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It has certainly not been a completely smooth road. Like many creative people, it took me years to fully trust my own talent and instincts. Building a business also meant learning an entirely different set of skills beyond design—managing finances, setting boundaries, leading a team and making difficult decisions while still protecting the creative side of the work.
One of the biggest lessons has been learning that growth requires letting go. I had to move beyond feeling that I needed to handle every detail myself and instead learn to mentor, invest in and trust the people around me. There have been projects that did not unfold as planned, seasons of uncertainty and plenty of lessons learned the hard way, but each challenge has helped clarify who we are as a firm and how we want to work. I am proud that we have grown thoughtfully without losing the personal, intentional approach that has always been at the heart of Brad Ramsey Interiors.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
Brad Ramsey Interiors is a full-service residential design firm, and our work often begins with the architectural plans and continues through construction, furnishings, art and the final styling of a home. That broad involvement allows us to think about a house as a complete story rather than a collection of separate decisions. We are known for interiors that feel layered, collected and polished, but still comfortable and deeply personal to the people who live in them.
I would not say that we have one prescribed aesthetic. What connects our projects is a sense of intention. Every element should have a purpose, whether functional, emotional or both. We often balance clean architectural lines with natural materials, vintage pieces, art, color and moments of the unexpected. I want a home to feel as though it has developed over time, even when nearly everything in it is new.
What sets us apart is our ability to listen closely and translate a client’s personality into a home that feels distinctly theirs while still bringing a strong creative point of view. I am most proud of the trust our clients place in us, the talented team we have built and the fact that many clients return as their lives and families evolve. Being named to the 2026 Luxe Gold List was an incredible honor, but the greatest measure of success is creating homes that our clients genuinely love living in.
Before we let you go, we’ve got to ask if you have any advice for those who are just starting out?
Trust your eye and your instincts, but remain curious and willing to learn. Early in my career, I spent too much time questioning whether I was talented enough or comparing my path to someone else’s. Confidence comes with experience, but you cannot wait until you feel completely ready to begin. Take the opportunity, do the work and keep moving forward.
I would also encourage anyone starting out to learn the business side of a creative career as seriously as they learn the craft. Talent may open the door, but communication, organization, financial discipline and strong relationships are what allow you to build something lasting. Be kind, treat people well and never underestimate the value of showing up prepared. Your path may not be linear, and that is not necessarily a disadvantage. Every experience can add something meaningful to the way you see and create.
