Today we’d like to introduce you to Brandon Phillips .
Hi Brandon, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstories.
Oddly enough, my interest in photography started off to impress a girl but turned out into something so much more. It helped me dive deep into studying and understand my roots in Appalachia. I try and uniquely show the beauty of Appalachia.
Can you talk to us about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Not only has it been smooth, but very rewarding. You never know what you’ll find on the backroads, and I’ve run into some pretty amazing places.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I have my hands in a bit of everything. I’m trained as an electrician/welder, but I spend most of my time selling my story and photos on IG. I also do a lot of gig work from the smallest venues to PBS shows like Bluegrass Underground. I’m 100% freelance.
Who else deserves credit in your story?
I’m self-taught & inspired by the people of Appalachia. I want to bring a positive light to this region and try my best to share it through my photography.
