Daily Inspiration: Meet Brian Ashley Jones

Today we’d like to introduce you to Brian Ashley Jones

Brian Ashley, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I started out performing at parties, bars and restaurants around SC, NC and GA in the early nineties. I was mostly playing cover songs with a few original songs thrown in here and there. I was thrilled to be able to pay my bills by making music. In time I wrote more songs, began doing sideman lead guitar/bass gigs and became interested in working as a studio musician. Over the years I’ve had a few of my songs featured in film and television and have toured internationally with my own band and as a sideman.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The music business certainly is challenging and ever changing but I’ve been fortunate for the most part. Maintaining one’s health is of the utmost importance. That took me a while to learn but thankfully not too long.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
My career has been a mixture of touring singer/songwriter, sideman lead guitarist/bassist and studio musician. I’m proud of my songs but I’m equally as proud of having worked for so many other talented performers. Their confidence in me feels great!

We’d be interested to hear your thoughts on luck and what role, if any, you feel it’s played for you?
I’ve been lucky to stay healthy all this time and to have met so many talented collaborators!
