Today we’d like to introduce you to Brianna Williams.
Hi Brianna, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstories.
I started out in media doing radio in college. I worked at the campus radio station and interned at a radio station doing promotions. Once I graduated, I found a job at a talk radio station. I read the news and also helped produce an award-winning sports talk show. I moved on to an R&B and old-school station. Did sales, co-hosted a mid-day show, and promotions? Years later the station was switching formats to hip hop and R&B.
I got trained and coached to host my very own midday show! Then I ended up moving but was still in the air and got into the news. I’m currently a news producer which basically means I write what the anchor reads! I’m also a children’s book author! With more projects released in September. Plan to keep a series going among other things. I also mentor high school and college students who are thinking about getting into the business!
I have my own brand Blackmediamoguls and a website to go along with it!
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
No, it definitely has not! One of the biggest struggles is someone being picked over you for opportunities that you’ve worked hard for. Or someone telling you since you don’t have enough skills, this or that won’t work for you!
I’ve learned that God is an intentional God and what he has for you, he will do! Those opportunities passed you up for a reason!
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I’m all about media!! I’m in news as a producer, I’m doing media for two ministries (a church and a women’s organization).
I’m writing books, designing apparel, and planning future projects.
What sets me apart from others is my personality!! I’m very outgoing and I love people! I’ll start a conversation with anyone! Because I love people and their stories! Especially the ones where they’ve overcome obstacles and come out victorious!
Is there anyone you’d like to thank or give credit to?
My family is my biggest supporter ever! That includes immediate, church, community, friends, and mentors! I call you family then that means something to me and holds a special place!
They’ve covered me in whatever I’ve needed, encouraged me, prayed for me, pushed me, and don’t let me give up.
Anything I’ve needed they’ve all been there!
