Daily Inspiration: Meet Brittany Hendler

Today we’d like to introduce you to Brittany Hendler.

Hi Brittany, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I started my weight loss/wellness journey about 3 years ago. I found myself in a dark place, where I wasn’t really enjoying life and the people around me anymore. I knew I had to make a lifestyle change and work on my quality of life. I had spent my previous years trying to lose weight on a college budget without any information about health or fitness other than fad diets.

I decided to have weight loss surgery in 2019 and used this tool to completely transform my lifestyle. I went from barely walking a mile once a month to averaging 4-5 miles a day (and actually enjoying it). I started documenting my VSG (weight loss surgery) journey on Instagram for others to learn! WLS saved my life and I have fully blossomed from a depressed, broke, and lost girl into a healthy, thriving entrepreneur who found her purpose!

Helping others through my lifestyle coaching business and posting on social for accountability and sharing tips and mindset practices have truly transformed my day-to-day! So here is your sign – whether it’s weight loss, confidence in the gym, becoming a more positive human, or becoming an influencer – GO FOR IT! Start today and live your life as the happiest and most authentic version you possibly can!

There is so much more out there than living a mediocre life that is unfulfilling. You aren’t stuck where you are. Day one or one day – all it takes is a choice to change! Every single person out there has what it takes!

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Along my weight loss journey, I had to reshape years of disordered thinking. I was on weight watchers at 13 years old. I thought there were good and bad foods. I thought I just had to stop eating to lose weight. All in all, I had to find food freedom and develop a new relationship with food and fitness. Now I live a completely balanced lifestyle while meeting my goals!

Along with my social media/business, I had to take a leap of faith. I had to stop worrying about what others thought of me posting my content. I had to step out of my comfort zone to do basically everything – bringing my tripod in public, filming my workouts in the gym, and sharing my authentic real body of stretch marks and cellulite. I had to be confident in who I truly was and accept it before I really was able to take my platforms to the next level.

The same thing for my lifestyle coaching business. Sure being CPT and CNC certified taught me a ton. But I had to have the confidence to know that I could actually help clients reach their goals and find balance and food freedom. I had to have the confidence when I didn’t know an answer, to lean on another fitness and nutrition professional to help me navigate the question/situation.

Weight loss surgery is a tool to help you dial back your eating habits, be in a calorie deficit and lose weight. However, after almost 3 years, I feel little restriction in the amount of food I eat. It is up to me to keep practicing these daily winning habits, focusing on a lifestyle that supports my body and goals.

I have to stay disciplined, and consistent; chose to never go back to that dark place I was before.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I started posting on TikTok and Instagram more consistently when covid hit and I had more time to devote to content creation, I truly cannot believe this is my full-time career 3 years later. I’m known for my positivity, mindset work, morning pep talks, and showing a balanced and transparent lifestyle!

The fact that I have DM’s saying I truly inspired someone anywhere from going on a walk today to starting their social media account – it is just so dang rewarding and I am so happy I get to bring a little extra light to this world. I have “The best day ever” over and over again because I truly am obsessed with creating content, helping others, and romanticizing the little things daily!

I also love that my personal brand has developed so much further than a VSG or WLS box. I post about any and everything now that my followers have found interest in from Amazon Hauls, Beauty, Nashville content to caloric deficit hacks and workouts! I just love what I do and I genuinely feel like the luckiest person.

But I’m also proud that I went from working a 9-5 with a commute in corporate America, serving tables on the weekends, and doing IG and TikTok on the side for 3 years constantly grinding to make this a reality. I live my dream now and I will forever be so grateful!

We love surprises, fun facts, and unexpected stories. Is there something you can share that might surprise us?
The most surprising thing that some may not know about me is that I have had a past filled with depression and eating disorders.

There were days when I couldn’t get out of bed, there were days when I ate the entire pantry or went 3 days without eating at all. I transformed a life of dread into a life of gratitude, positivity, and happiness!

I still struggle occasionally with my disordered thinking, but I bring my best to each day and keep going! It does get better, you can get the help you need and you can transform your mindset!
