Today we’d like to introduce you to Bryan Williams.
Hi Bryan, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I started filming consistently in 2018–2019, really just vlogging my travels and documenting my life. It wasn’t anything serious at first. Then a friend asked me to film something for them, and the project turned out great. I didn’t think much of it until more people started reaching out, asking for my services. That’s when I realized there might be something here.
So I went into a deep dive — learning videography, storytelling, editing, lighting, sound, the business side… everything. During the COVID period, when the world slowed down, I had the time and space to really develop a solid foundation. I was still new and ignorant to a lot, but I had one simple mantra: Pray and film. Meaning, keep going. Don’t quit. Keep creating.
I didn’t know my limits, so I took on any project I could get my hands on. That determination, combined with lessons I learned in the corporate world, helped shape the filmmaker and business owner I am today.
I still have so much to learn, but my core principles haven’t changed:
– Never stop learning.
– Communicate and be courteous to your clients.
– Dedicate time to improving your craft.
– And above all, pray and film.
Everything else will take care of itself.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
I’d say the journey has been pretty smooth overall, but not without its challenges. In the beginning, I took on a huge amount of work — not because I wanted to overwhelm myself, but because I genuinely didn’t know my limits yet. I didn’t know what a “normal workload” looked like for a one-person team. And honestly, I enjoyed filming so much that I never viewed it as a struggle. I only saw opportunity.
Entrepreneurship has taught me that building a business is also about building yourself. Your discipline, your perspective, your patience. There have been plenty of sleepless nights of editing, and as a creative, I sometimes have to intentionally block out ideas or even pause taking calls so I don’t drift into envisioning a new concept when I need to stay focused on the project in front of me.
That’s probably one of my biggest challenges — managing the constant stream of ideas and knowing when to turn the creative part of my brain “off.” Truthfully, I don’t think creatives ever really stop working in their heads. But I’m learning to create better boundaries, pace myself, and respect the balance between passion and rest.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
My business is called Laws of Ace Films. I’m a filmmaker, and my work spans nonprofits, weddings, podcasts, and entertainment. But the heart of my company lives in the nonprofit and community space. That’s where I do most of my storytelling.
What I’m most proud of isn’t a particular project — it’s my persistence. This journey has pushed me to grow in ways I never expected, and it has elevated my work, my discipline, and my purpose.
What truly sets me apart is that I’ve fallen in love with highlighting stories that often go untold. I focus on people who positively impact their communities and organizations that are driving real change. We live in a world that’s oversaturated with negativity, and I believe someone has to help balance the scales — someone has to showcase the good.
That’s what I do.
Laws of Ace Films exists to shine a light on incredible people, powerful missions, and meaningful impact. I want viewers to walk away feeling inspired, hopeful, and connected to the stories that matter.
What are your plans for the future?
Plans for the future, I am moving into the documentary space, finding a more in depth approach to storytelling.
