Daily Inspiration: Meet Camryn Gardner

Today we’d like to introduce you to Camryn Gardner.

Camryn Gardner

Camryn, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I have been singing my whole life. I was involved in every church choir/plays, musicals at my theatre back home, show choir in high school. Led the youth band from 7th grade until I graduated high school and was in every choir my college (Clemson University) offered, including the accapella group. I had a slower start to writing songs but since moving to Nashville I have written hundreds and have developed a love for song writing as well. I have been in town a little over 2 years and I have been playing writing almost everyday since.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Definitely not. A month before a moved to Nashville I lost my uncle and I almost didn’t move: I did, and I’m glad I did, but it was the hardest year of my life maneuvering through grief in a city where I knew no one. I think the most I’ve struggled being in Nashville is with comparing myself and feeling behind. It is a struggle to be sure and confident in your ability when you’re surrounding by so much talent.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I currently work during the day in the industry doing business management, while also being an independent artist. I am very proud of the two songs I have out, hero and talkin’ tequila, but I have more on the way very soon.

We’d be interested to hear your thoughts on luck and what role, if any, you feel it’s played for you?
I feel like I haven’t been “lucky” per say. Moving to Nashville is hard for anyone and everything I’ve done while being here I feel like I have worked hard for. With that being said, I think everything happens for a reason and the doors that have closed for me are just so that the right ones can be opened. Hard work always pays off in my opinion,
