Today we’d like to introduce you to Cheyanne Parkans
Hi Cheyanne, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I first started photography in October of 2020 when I spontaneously bought a camera. I was looking for something grandfather is a photographer so I wanted to follow in his footsteps. Since then it has been an integral part of my life.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It has been a roller coaster. There’s good months and bad months as well as accomplishments and failures. Part of starting a business and career is pushing through the bad times where I wasn’t getting as many shoots as I’d like or when I was lacking creativity. Thankfully I’ve had the support of my friends and family along the way who push me to be better every day.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I love colors and color manipulation as well as very high energy performances.
I will sometimes spend hours searching for any minute detail that will bring an image together. Adjusting colors, bringing out parts of an image, fixing small details, etc.
I also love anything high energy. I spend a good portion of my time shooting high level cheerleading performances which has made me love those environments. Whether it’s sports, in the club, or a super high energy music artist I love capturing the emotion that comes from those.
A couple of things that I’ve been told set me apart is the ability to capture the raw emotion of a person, and my ability to capture spontaneous lowlight subjects.
Where we are in life is often partly because of others. Who/what else deserves credit for how your story turned out?
One of my best friends Cody Parson has always been there for me. I’ve been his photographer for years and he has done nothing but push me and help me grow. Because of him, I am one of the main photographers at Possumstock. I don’t know where I’d be without any of my friends who have helped me through the years.
